In this interview, Steve Kirsch, executive director of the COVID-19 Early Treatment Fund, reviews some of the COVID jab data he’s presented to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention during various meetings.

For example, during the September 17, 2021, FDA VRBPAC (Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee) meeting,¹ Kirsch cited data suggesting 1 in 317 boys aged 16 to 17 will get myocarditis from the shots, and after a third booster, that number may be even higher. He also cited data showing the Pfizer shot kills far more people than it saves. I’ll provide more details about that below.

Kirsch didn’t come into this due to some preconceived opinion about vaccines. He and his family have all received two doses of the COVID jab. It wasn’t until after the fact that he started hearing about problems from others that he started taking deep dives into the data. He explains:

“After I got vaccinated, a woman asked me, ‘Should I get vaccinated?’ And I said, ‘Of course, you should. This is the safest thing ever. Nobody’s died and there are no side effects. You’ve got to get this modern technology.’ I’m singing from the hymn book.

And then she said something that threw me off course because I said, ‘Why are you asking such a stupid question?’ And she said, ‘Well, three of my relatives got the vaccine and they died within a week.’ I said, ‘No, no, that can’t be true. There’s no way that can happen.’

I’m trying to convince her that she’s mistaken, that it must have been something else. I wrote her saying, ‘Statistically, you can’t have three people dying from the vaccine, which doesn’t kill anyone.’ And she wrote back and she said, ‘Yeah, but they’re dead.’

That was a game-changing moment for me … but I was still in denial … I was operating [from the position] that the FDA is still operating the same [conservative] way [they used to before], but they’re not … nor did I understand that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is now mission driven, and the mission is to get a needle in every arm. My trust was in the agencies.

The next incident involved my carpet cleaner, Tim Damroth. He showed up wearing a mask. And I’m saying, ‘Hey, you should all get vaccinated. Once you get vaccinated you don’t have to wear a mask.’ And he said, ‘Well, I did get vaccinated, but I had an extreme reaction. I had a heart attack two minutes after I got injected.’ He also described that his wife had [developed] Parkinson’s-like symptoms. Her left hand was shaking uncontrollably.”

The Price Truth-Tellers Pay

The data are ultimately what convinced him that people must be told the truth about these shots because, without that, they cannot give informed consent. He’s sacrificed a lot to do just that, including professional relationships and millions of dollars in lost income.

“I basically put my life on hold and started looking in the various databases and talking to people to understand what was going on,” Kirsch says. “And every place I looked, [the truth] became more clear to me. And so, on May 25, 2021, I wrote this 250-page article for TrialSiteNews. It may be the longest article for TrialSiteNews ever published.

When I wrote that article, within a week, every member of my [COVID-19 Early Treatment Fund’s] scientific advisory board quit — there were 14 scientists from all over the United States and in different fields with different expertise. They said I was ‘an evil person’ and that they never wanted to talk to me again in their life.

I pleaded with them, saying, ‘Look, if I’ve got the analysis wrong, then tell why can’t you tell me where I got it wrong.’ And they wouldn’t say anything. They just said, the vaccines are safe and I should be ashamed of myself.”

Kirsch also created and submitted a 177-page PDF slideshow to the October 26, 2021, VRBPAC hearing, titled, “Questions About the COVID Vaccine.”² It’s an absolute treasure trove of information and I would encourage you to review this great resource that he is updating in real time.

VAERS Data Likely Off by Factor of 41

In his video, “Vaccine Secrets: COVID Crisis,”³ the first episode of “The False Narrative Takedown Series,” Kirsch explains how to estimate COVID jab mortality, which he and a team of statisticians have done based on a variety of sources, including but not limited to the U.S. Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS).

Kirsch estimates VAERS reporting is off by a factor of 41, and that anywhere from 150,000 to 300,000 Americans have died from the COVID shots.

“We looked at eight different ways and VAERS is just one of the ways. So, when people say, ‘You can’t use VAERS for this, you can’t [calculate] causality [based on VAERS data], I’m saying, ‘Fine. We got the same answer using seven other ways.

In the VAERS analysis, we determined that VAERS was under-reported by a factor of 41, which is quite reasonable … Ten years ago we had a system where we could actually discover all the unreported things in VAERS, and they discovered VAERS was severely underreported by as much as 95 times. Vaccines that we thought were safe, they’re not safe at all. So, what did they do? They killed the project.

So, the reason that we have such a bad system today is that it is intentional. If we had a good system, it would show all the flaws for all of these vaccines that we’ve been giving people.”

The system is clearly intentionally designed from a technical standpoint to radically decrease the number of cases entered. It takes more than 30 minutes to complete a single report and you can’t save it until completed, so if you walk away and get timed-out, you have to start all over.

Kirsch knows a neurologist in California who claims to have 2,000 COVID jab-injured patients (out of a client base of 20,000), but she’s only filed two reports to VAERS. She doesn’t have time for the rest. So, she’s under-reporting by a factor of 1,000. Also, while doctors are required by law to file adverse event reports, there’s no enforcement, and no punishment for not filing.

It is also important to note that no one is paid to enter this data. That could be a part time job for most clinicians, were they to responsibly report all the side effects and deaths.

COVID Shots Are Far Deadlier Than the Infection

Overall, his team’s calculations suggest we’re killing 411 people per million doses (and remember Moderna and Pfizer are both two-dose regimens), worldwide. And that’s just the short-term mortality. We still have no concept of how these shots might impact mortality in the longer term.

To put things into further perspective, October 21, 2021, an Italian investigation found that by changing the COVID mortality definition to only include cases where COVID-19 was the primary cause of death and there were no comorbidities decreased the death toll by 97%, from 130,000 to fewer than 4,000.

Kirsch believes the real death tally from COVID-19 in the U.S. may be about 50% of the reported number. This means about 380,000 Americans died from COVID-19 (rather than with COVID), whereas the COVID “vaccine” has killed as many as 300,000. In other words, it’s possible that the cure may be worse than the disease.

COVID Shot Is the Deadliest ‘Vaccine’ Ever Created

It gets even worse though. In Pfizer’s children’s trial, one of the participants, 12-year-old Maddie De Garay, suffered a number of devastating events, including paralysis. This side effect was misreported, however, and put down as “abdominal pain.” Neither the FDA nor the CDC has investigated the case, despite promising to do so. Pfizer has refused to investigate it as well.

These COVID vaccines are over 800 times deadlier than the deadliest vaccine in human history. So, this isn’t a close call. These vaccines are the deadliest vaccines ever created by man. And they’re promoted as safe and effective. ~ Steve Kirsch

In the youth trial, 1 out of 1,131 children was paralyzed. Meanwhile, Pfizer’s adult trial shows that the shot saves one COVID death for every 22,000 fully-vaccinated people. But for children, it’s estimated we need to fully vaccinate over 630,000 kids to save one life. That means we may permanently disable as many as 557 kids per life saved. Meanwhile, there’s not a single report of a healthy child dying from SARS-CoV-2 infection anywhere in the world.

This means the number needed to vaccinate to save one otherwise healthy child from COVID death is actually infinite, as they’re not dying from COVID to begin with. There simply is no doubt that in children, the COVID shot is no benefit and all risk. Kirsch notes:

“Dr. Paul Offit was interviewed 20 years ago on ‘CBS 60 Minutes,’ and he said the smallpox vaccine is so dangerous that we would never consider doing that in modern times. It’s the most dangerous vaccine ever invented … and the smallpox vaccines only kills one person per every million-people vaccinated, which is a lot.

You vaccinate 300 million people, you’re going to kill 300 people. That is unacceptable according to Offit, but he just voted for a vaccine that kills 822 people per million fully vaccinated [assuming a two-dose regimen].

That means these COVID vaccines are over 800 times deadlier than the deadliest vaccine in human history. So, this isn’t a close call. These vaccines are the deadliest vaccines ever created by man. And they’re promoted as safe and effective.”

COVID Shot Gets Deadlier the Younger You Are

Based on a request from Dr. Peter McCullough, Kirsch also analyzed COVID jab mortality based on age using the VAERS data. For 80-year-olds, he found we kill two people to save one. For 20-year-olds, we kill six to save one.

The younger you are, the greater the risk. The Kostoff analysis⁴ found this general pattern as well. Ronald N. Kostoff is a research affiliate in Gainesville, Virginia, who in 2016 wrote an expert review on under-reporting of adverse events in the biomedical literature.⁵

In a review published in October 2021, Kostoff found five elderly are killed by the shots for each elderly person saved, and the ratios get worse as you go down in age. That said, “the vaccines don’t make sense for any age group, which is exactly the same thing I found independently,” Kirsch says.

“Nobody should get these vaccines. There is no cost-benefit analysis that I have seen that shows it is beneficial … I mean, you’re not going to take an intervention that is just as likely to kill you as to save you.

You want to take an intervention which is at least 10 times more likely to save you than to kill you, because it’s an optional intervention. What kind of business do you have taking an intervention which has a marginal benefit for a completely unknown short- and long-term risk profile?

The other thing I want to say is that, the societal benefit argument, people are saying, ‘You’re selfish because you didn’t get vaccinated.’ Well, that’s irrational.

Have you ever seen a CDC analysis showing you the societal benefit of being vaccinated? It doesn’t exist. And there’s a reason it doesn’t exist, because the societal benefit would be so tiny that it’s ludicrous. Today, we know the vaccinated are as likely to spread the virus as the unvaccinated. So where is the societal benefit?

If there are no downsides [to the shot], then people would say, sure, maybe there’s some societal benefit. I’ll do that. But here your life is at stake and the data show that roughly 1 in 1,000 will get killed by these vaccines. So, if I say, hey, suppose sacrificing your life could save 100 person years (e.g., 10 people given another 10 years of life).

When I asked this live in a clubhouse room with a few hundred people, nobody raised their hand to volunteer to do that — to sacrifice their life to save 100 person years. And I said, ‘OK, what about 1,000 person years? If you could sacrifice your life to save people 1,000 person years, would you do it? Nobody would do that. It’s nonsensical.

We have a constitutional right to life … And I don’t think you’re being selfish about it. You have a family, you have friends, you have loved ones, you have people you interact with … Why would I ask you to sacrifice your life? To save people you don’t know?

Everybody has their own special way that they contribute to society. Why would we ever ask somebody to [sacrifice their life for a potential social benefit]? Maybe we should ask Joe Biden, ‘Joe, if you could give up your life to save 1,000 person-years, would you do that?’ It would be very interesting to see what he says.”

CDC Performs Statistical Magic, Again

Countering all of this data we have a recent CDC analysis,⁶ which concluded that people who get the COVID shot are two-thirds less likely to die of any cause.

“I sent Janet Woodcock my deck of 180 questions. I said, ‘Janet, I bet you can’t answer any of these 180 questions. Doesn’t this concern you?’ She sends back an email saying, ‘Look at the CDC analysis, showing that after you get the jab, there’s this two-thirds drop in mortality.’

My friends and I, when we saw in that paper, we were laughing our heads off over here. The stats on 18- to 44-year-olds [show] 35% die from accidents. The rest die from disease — cancer, heart disease, whatever.

The only way to get a two-thirds reduction [in all-cause mortality] is if nobody dies from anything anymore — any disease — and we also reduce the number of accidents that they have … This is the immortality drug. All kidding aside, there’s no mechanism of action that could possibly justify that people are going to be better off from a health perspective after getting these vaccinations. Zero.

Nothing is improved. You are not immortal. You are just the opposite; your immune system is compromised. You’re also more likely to get COVID. In the U.K., the government numbers show that 40-year-olds, after the honeymoon period is over, were more than twice as likely to get infected if they were vaccinated.

In the U.S., you have hospitals where you have a 50% community vaccination rate and the hospital admissions are 90% vaccinated people. You can’t make these statistics up.

In fact, the CDC was confronted by these statistics by Aaron Siri, who wrote about it on his substack, and they just ignored them. So, they make up stuff [and] this paper shows the CDC can put out anything and as long as it has that little CDC logo on it, people are going to believe it no matter how ridiculous it is.

And nobody in the medical community criticized it. I wrote a very popular article about it on my substack entitled, ‘FDA Discovers Fountain of Youth.’”

Biggest Fraud in History

All things considered, the COVID vaccination campaign is the biggest medical fraud in modern history. As Kirsch says, it’s a house of cards, held together by belief in data that aren’t there and avoidance of confronting the safety signals in the VAERS system and other studies that don’t comport with the narrative.

They even avoided the determination of one of the world’s top pathologists (Peter Schirmacher) that at least 30% to 40% of the deaths two weeks post-vaccine were caused by the vaccine. The still claim there are no deaths that have been attributed to the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. That’s ridiculous.

“I’ve never seen anything like this, and I’ve never heard of anything like this because the conspirators who are telling this false narrative are all the three-letter agencies under the Department of Health and Human Services — the FDA, CDC and NIH.

They’re all in on it, Congress is all in on it, mainstream media’s all in on it, and the medical community is all in on it. They can’t afford to back down now because they are in it too deep. It would be too embarrassing to them.

We have been saying for months, ‘You guys have to look at the VAERS data,’ and they have been ignoring and censoring us rather than engaging us with dialogue — and none of these people will engage us in dialogue.

We tell the so-called ‘fact checkers’ where to look and what questions to ask the CDC to verify our stories and they never follow up. The ‘fact checkers’ all refuse to get on a recorded phone or Zoom call since they don’t want to be exposed as being biased.

One strategy for changing this is that we’re going to run a series of ads. Each of the ads will feature a unique personality, like a Dr. Peter McCullough, a sports figure, doctors, victims and so on. They’ll relate their personal anecdotes for what’s happened to them. And they will say, ‘Look, before you get vaccinated, check the facts. Listen to the other side of the story.’

It’s a reasonable ask. And we’ll direct them where to go to hear the side of the story that the mainstream media aren’t allowing them to hear. And then we let them make up their own mind. People aren’t hearing the other side of the story, and the White House is helping suppress it. When the White House has a hit list of censorship, it’s very clear what is going on. When in history have we done that?

Do you ever see McCullough on CNN? No, because they want to give you only one side and they’re deliberately giving you only one side of it, and they know it. If they want to give the impression they are balanced, they’ll pick someone who isn’t an expert and interview them. Robert Malone is never going to be on CNN. Malone invented the mRNA vaccine and yet he doesn’t qualify to talk about it on CNN?

America used to be a country that embraced a diversity of views, and you had freedom of speech, you had freedom to express your opinion. You had the freedom to tell the truth. No more. That freedom has been taken away.

If you don’t agree with the mainstream narrative, you’re silenced. And so, what we’re going to do is run the series of ads, and we’ll only be able to run it on alternate media because the mainstream media won’t run our ads because the ads encourage people to hear the other side of the issue.”

What Are Modesty and Immodesty?

For the purposes of this article, modesty and immodesty are defined as follows:

Modesty
To use one’s agency to be an influence for righteousness in the lives of others through righteous manner and behavior.

Immodesty
To use one’s agency to be an influence for wickedness in the lives of others through unrighteous manner and behavior.

With both, someone is choosing to do something, whether knowingly or in ignorance, that affects others for good or evil.

Modesty pertains to all our behaviors and can influence others across a wide spectrum, but this article will focus mainly on the modesty and immodesty of the way we choose to dress ourselves.

The “Modest and Sexy” Oxymoron
Ever heard this expression relevant to how one dresses? “Modest and sexy!” It’s an oxymoron.

Being modestly dressed means dressing so as to avoid impropriety or indecency, especially to avoid attracting sexual attention. And since sexy means sexually attractive or sexually exciting, it is literally impossible to be both modest and sexy at the same time. This guile is clever advertising that appeals to the worldliness within, that part of a person that wants to satisfy the carnal man.

The compulsion to be “sexy” is ubiquitous. It hangs over the people of the world like a dark, corrosive mist. For whatever reason, the Eternal value and commandment of modesty eludes the world. Many who dare step outside their imposed social bounds to speak up for modesty and against immodesty are verbally brutalized by those assumed to dwell within the tents of Zion and by those known to dwell without. You rarely hear it discussed today, and it’s no wonder.

As it relates to clothing, this I know: “sexy” is for the private and sacred having to do with permanent marriage and “modest” is for the rest of the time. Exceptions should be obvious, but many situations that shouldn’t be exceptions are made to be exceptions, and without warrant, bringing immodestly constantly into the view of everyone who isn’t a hermit. Immodesty has become that inch that took a mile.

I have a dream that individuals, families, and communities of believers will forsake immodesty and be willing to go without activities in their lives that would require wearing “tight, sheer, or otherwise revealing clothing” in public, or they’ll improve the activities so immodesty isn’t part of them. No excuses. No inches. No miles.

Modesty has never been more important, even if it has never been more neglected. Our immodesty puts us in debt, and the balance is going to come due all at once. And modesty is a requirement for Zion. Where immodesty is, Zion isn’t.

With that, I’ll ask you to brace yourself for what might be the longest post about modesty you’ve ever read.

Why Is Modesty More Than Just A Mere Suggestion?

What follows pertains to modesty, chastity, pornography addiction, and covenants made with God.

For the sake of both prodigals returned to the fold and long-time faithful currently under intense pressure to depart from it, please take a moment to consider these things.

The Principle of Modesty Is Eternal
“Prophets of God have continually counseled His children to dress modestly. … Your dress influence[s] the way you and others act. … Never lower your standards of dress. Do not use a special occasion as an excuse to be immodest. When you dress immodestly, you send a message that is contrary to your identity as a son or daughter of God. You also send the message that you are using your body to get attention and approval. … Immodest clothing is any clothing that is tight, sheer, or revealing in any other manner.” For the Strength of Youth

Addressing the furor that followed Elder Kimball teaching people to dress modestly, Dallin Oaks (then President of BYU) said, “The principle of modesty—the commandment that you should avoid a tempting manner or appearance—is fixed and eternal and will not deviate. Don’t assume that anyone will be impressed with your experience, or your preferences, or your wisdom on this subject.”

Immodesty Undermines Moral Agency
Who has ever said, “But I’m not responsible for what other people choose to think about!” I have. Most of us probably have. And it’s true. We’re not responsible for what other people choose to think. But, if we’re saying that as a response to the modesty commandment, perhaps we’re not quite seeing the point. This isn’t about the choice someone gets to make when confronted by immodesty, it’s about the “choice” immodesty imposes. And, it may happen before conscientious thought even kicks in, or beneath or outside of conscientious thought.

The eye paths images to the brain. When the human eye (especially in men, but also in women) captures a sexual image, the brain releases chemicals that prepare a person for a sexual encounter (what I’m calling a trigger). When it happens outside of marriage, I call it a porntrigger.

Wearing clothing that is tight, sheer, or revealing in any other manner is, by our own culture’s definition, sexy. Sexy can be defined as sexually attractive or exciting, or arousing. What causes those feelings? Straight-thinking adults know the cause and effect, even when we don’t admit it in public.

The person seeing the image doesn’t have a choice in the matter as to whether or not the trigger happens. If it’s going to happen, it just happens. They get to choose what to do with the experience, but they may get triggered regardless of their will. Therefore, the person who is immodestly dressed undermined the other person’s moral agency relevant to sexuality, even the choice they should have been able to make for themselves to look at something sexually stimulating. That’s one reason why modesty is part of the essence of chastity and a commandment of God. A portion of civil society used to understand this.

Penitent porn addicts who have become self aware enough to comprehend what is going on in their mind know that their chemistry is altered within a second of seeing an immodest image. All they did was use their eyeballs to see. Yes, they don’t have to then act upon it and engage in abuse, but when you factor in that immodest images infiltrate the mind hundreds or thousands of times every single day, it begins to be clear that every one of them has a major battle—a battle that all of us could help them win.

Within communities of believers, I believe that battle would be much easier if we would help each other by dressing modestly, creating places of refuge in our believer communities. That goes for all of us—men and women, young and old.

We Have a Covenant Duty to Help
Dressing immodestly has become normalized in our culture even though immodesty clearly pushes out the spirit of the law of chastity. We’ve been taught over and over to dress modestly. And the immodesty is hurting people. Is that hurt tuned out by disbelief, or distraction, or disdain for truth?

God hears the cries of the striving men and women wrestling in agony. They’re suffering in the shadows. They have almost no support. I shudder to think of the recompense due if we ignore our covenant duty, continuing to put the weak in peril.

What covenants am I talking about? There are sacred covenants made in the temple that apply. But beyond those, we learn from Mosiah 18 that members of the church make a covenant at baptism to do the following:
Bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light.
Mourn with those that mourn.
Comfort those that stand in need of comfort.
Stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things and in all places that ye may be in, even until death.
To serve him and keep his commandments.
Why? “That ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the first resurrection, that ye may have eternal life,” and, “. . . that he may pour out his Spirit more abundantly upon you.”

In Doctrine and Covenants Section 20, we learn, “All those who humble themselves before God, and desire to be baptized, and come forth with broken hearts and contrite spirits, and witness before the church that they have truly repented of all their sins, and are willing to take upon them the name of Jesus Christ, having a determination to serve him to the end, and truly manifest by their works that they have received of the Spirit of Christ unto the remission of their sins, shall be received by baptism into his church.”

Can you identify how people break covenants when immodest?

Becoming a tempter and persecutor of those who are striving to live faithfully.
Instead of bearing one another’s burdens that they may be light, adding to their burdens.
Advertising paths that lead away from God.
Instead of speaking and behaving in the light of truth, we are lending our words and actions to the adversary, and we might not even realize we are doing it.

Indeed, spiritually speaking, modesty is the commandment that we should avoid a tempting manner or appearance, a commandment that ought to be gladly embraced by disciples of Christ, without complaint. What are tight yoga pants or skinny jeans or muscle shirts worn in public places compared to the robes worn by celestial beings in the presence of God? What is a $5 million mansion compared to the mansions our Father in Heaven has built for the faithful? And what is a dirty joke or a vulgar word compared to the pure language of Heaven?

A struggle with a desire to behave modestly is a struggle with discipleship. When someone feels strongly about modesty and about becoming a modest person, that is one of the most obvious signs that person is abiding in the love of the Lord. It comes naturally to the redeemed and converted and those chastised by Heaven. Modesty grows from the seed of repentance and experience with the atonement of Jesus Christ, and modesty is a distinguishing characteristic of the culture of Zion.

Faithful People Are Hurting
When I made this topic a matter of intensive study, I realized that the apostles had been teaching modesty for decades, but it seemed like most people had been ignoring it. I occasionally overheard some members say that the teachings about modesty were silly or offensive. What they didn’t seem to know or believe is that immodesty is a stumbling block for many porn addicts. We hear it all the time with things like swim-suit magazines, the underwear stores at the mall, and risqué magazine covers at the grocery store; but the same effect takes place with ordinary immodesty in day-to-day life. And it’s so pervasive in our culture.

While an addict may choose to overcome the triggers by turning his or her thoughts to Jesus Christ or another potential antidote, it’s important to note that the trigger itself is not one’s choice. And each trigger places a heavier weight on a back already overloaded. Without Christ’s grace, many addicts would fail every single day. Even with Jesus, some days it feels like too much for them. Their pain is overwhelming.

What do they do? How do they communicate their struggle in a way that helps everyone else understand without closing off because of feeling “judged”. Many addicts just want to be able to fellowship with the church without being reminded (tempted) of pornography all the time.

I feel certain that many of the hardest challenges we face come from within part of the church culture, because fellowship is perceived as a safe haven and refuge (and it ought to be one) yet may be riddled with the snares of dangerous triggers.

Said Heber C. Kimball, “The Saints will be put to tests that will try the integrity of the best of them. The pressure will become so great that the more righteous among them will cry unto the Lord day and night until deliverance comes.”

There are penitent men and women (you likely know some of them) who are crying out day and night today because they can’t find respite and refuge from the world in their fellowship with Christ’s covenant people. Some are fleeing Babylon only to find that Babylon is waiting for them at what they thought was a destination of refuge.

True doctrine is true. It is good. But just like has always been the case, doctrine itself doesn’t make us into Zion. Zion comes from what we BELIEVE and THINK and SPEAK and DO. Zion comes from HOW we love. Are we merely affectionate (affection is good but is not enough), or do we strive to have the pure love of Christ that prevents sin?

For the sake of the abandoned, I am thankful that Jesus Christ is there. His love can fill the heart of even the loneliest disciple as He gives them patience and helps them hope for the day when fellowship embraces discipleship. Jesus Christ will lead them through sorrow into joy.

Men are, that they might have joy. Joy is a product of faithfulness and overcoming tribulation through Christ. The knowledge of future joy provides hope and the will to continue on. We have a duty to help others be faithful and overcome tribulation so they’ll obtain true joy. I believe that it is urgent that we realize that our own immodesty undermines that effort and is a stumbling block to others, especially to those who feel desperate as they try to claw their way out of the dank pit of porn addiction.

During His mortal ministry, Jesus of Nazareth was a humble and obedient Son of God. He obeyed the Father perfectly because He loved perfectly. He taught us that when God gives us direction, we should receive the witness and follow. In all things He leads us out of sin and into faithfulness and joy. And He leads us in the same way today. We may each repent and, through Christ, receive a fullness of joy.

God has repeatedly given us direction on modesty. I witness that the direction we’ve received through prophets to be modest comes from God. Satan wants us to ignore that direction. He starts small, increasing his influence as we capitulate. He’ll end up taking everything from us if we’ll let him, but we’re not here to give Satan inches so he can take miles.

NOTE: Someone must have shared this article with an anti-mormon or pseudo-feminist group, because I’ve received a lot of comments from that ilk. Even though many of the commenters may have resigned from the LDS church (some of them saying so), they still found the time in their busy day to share their feelings on a blog post written to LDS folks. That’s dedication.

Some of their feelings were very interesting. Because I learned quickly that responding to these comments only fostered contention, I decided to extract relevant portions and frame them as questions and then comment on them.

Question:
Doesn’t it support rape culture to say that immodesty undermines moral agency and that sexual imagery contributes to addiction and relapse?
Answer:
I’m not all that familiar with rape culture, but I assume what you’re referring to is that there are rapists who refuse to take responsibility for their crime and instead blame it on the person they raped. It’s important to note that this blog post isn’t about rape, which means that you’re taking the things I wrote about sexual imagery and its connection to the chemical processes in the brain and that connection to porn addiction and applying it to something far more extreme, presumably in an effort to shut down a conversation you’re uncomfortable with.
I have heard that most (if not all) rapists used pornography. Is it a causal relationship with pornography triggering a latent tendency? I don’t know. I have read that rape is commonplace among pornographers, but I’ve also read that most porn addicts have never committed rape, even if they do lapse into fornication, promiscuity, and/or various forms of abuse and self abuse. But I want to pose a question to you. What if there was a rapist who later deeply regretted what they did and, while incarcerated, went through a process of deep introspection and of learning from their crimes. I wonder if, in the interest of protecting victims from a similar fate, you’d listen to what they had to say about why they did what they did. Or would you discount all of it on the grounds that because they did something terrible, they are incapable of telling the truth about their experience? That would be a foolish and dangerous way to go about learning about what contributes to rape. If you really care about protecting women (and children and men) from rapists, you’ll listen to any who are sincere about their penitence and who are eager to help others avoid the same downfall.

Question:
Jesus states very clearly in Revelations 3 that we must overcome (our fleshly desires) to sit at the right hand of God. Isn’t it true that your blog post basically says that porn-addicted people don’t have to work on themselves but that it’s only the immodestly dressed people that need to change?
Answer:
No. If you read this blog post with a mindset open to understanding its points, you saw that penitent porn addicts already are working on themselves and working with Christ to overcome the carnal man within. What they’re looking for in the faith is a helping hand. They’re recovering and they’re asking for help from their fellow saints, which is a group that has consistently been chastened and instructed by God to dress modestly and has covenanted with God to “bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light.” (Mosiah 18) While those with tendencies toward porn addiction have work to do, so do those of us with tendencies to desire to dress immodestly. Both are in the wrong and both need to change. One big difference between the two is that it’s still culturally and politically correct within the culture to teach repentance to porn addicts. It’s not, however, politically correct to teach modesty, as is very clear (especially if the words “leggings” or “yoga pants” are mentioned). Whenever someone dares, there’s pitchforks and fire.

Question:
In our culture, why have women been so pressured to dress modestly while men run around (exercise) or mow the lawn without a shirt on?
Answer:
This is a wonderful question that I don’t know the answer to. The modesty commandment clearly applies to both sexes. In what I write, I always try to make it very clear that I am addressing both men and women. Even with my extra care to make that clear, most of the comments I’ve received still say I’m targeting women. I’m not. What I am targeting is immodesty.

Question:
What about the poor or other cultures where immodesty is normal?
Answer:
Give the poor some clothes. And teach the other cultures the gospel. For those who sincerely accept the gospel, modesty will become their cultural norm. The apostles have set a simple standard that can be applied across the board. “Prophets of God have continually counseled His children to dress modestly. … Your dress influence[s] the way you and others act. … NEVER lower your standards of dress. Do NOT use a special occasion as an excuse to be immodest. When you dress immodestly, you send a message that is contrary to your identity as a son or daughter of God. You also send the message that you are using your body to get attention and approval. … Immodest clothing is any clothing that is tight, sheer, or revealing in any other manner.”

Question:
Isn’t there more to us than sex? Isn’t it satan that wants us to wear clothes? Doesn’t God want us to be proud of our bodies?
Answer:
There is more to us than sex, yes, but sex is one of the more powerful aspects of our nature (as it should be), as we are driven to procreate and connect with an Eternal companion. It is a gift from God and is meant to be powerful, but it’s also meant to be sacred, as are our bodies and the way we present them. We are meant to be beautiful and attractive to the opposite sex, but God commanded that sexuality be exclusive to a man and woman lawfully married. Satan wants us to value gaudy and/or expensive attire and to dress in revealing clothing. And he tries to get us to cover up our sins so we won’t repent. He wants us to hide them from God. And let’s remember that God made Adam and Eve clothes. We learn in Moses 4 that, “Unto Adam, and also unto his wife, did I, the Lord God, make coats of skins, and clothed them.” And does God not wear clothes? If Christ was the great exemplar, why did He not carry out his ministry in the nude and teach others so to do? If modesty is not important, why does God keep telling us to do it? Are you saying that the guidance we get from God actually doesn’t come from God? The truth is that choosing to dress immodestly while being aware that doing so is against God’s will sends God a message. The message is this: I don’t believe you, and I’m going to do what I want regardless of your will. In so doing we embrace pride.

The PornTrigger Effect

To understand this section, put the following points in your paradigm:

There is something that happens between the time a person encounters sexualized imagery and the time that person begins to, with awareness, engage in purposeful thought. The immodesty triggers a chemical/biological sexual response. This post is not about what people choose to think about after their purposeful thought kicks in. Instead, it’s about how a process has already begun by the time their mindful thinking even starts and how that process increases difficulty.

Because of this process (which is a natural part of the sexual process), people who dress immodestly undermine the moral agency of others. (Being a moral agent means being capable of acting with reference to right and wrong.) According to God (the same who said lust is adultery), sexuality is for marriage. Sexuality within aright marriage (as God defines it) is lawful and encouraged (right) and outside of aright marriage is sin (wrong). Moral agency includes being free to choose whether or not to trigger that specific sexual response, but immodesty may impose the response.

This is not an attempt to excuse immorality. We are responsible for what we choose to dwell on, think of, and fantasize about. The statement that immodesty violates moral agency doesn’t mean that immodesty forces others to do evil acts (the devil made me do it). Immodesty does, however, add more pressure to people already under pressure and makes relapse more likely. The choice immodesty takes away from others is the choice to look at sexual imagery and activate the chemical process in the brain but not the choice to act out on it. While it is true that some of what constitutes sexual imagery varies from person to person, there are standards that when followed may help the largest possible number of people. Many of those standards, as principles, already exist in the teachings. They just aren’t followed. This is an effort to invite believing latter-day saints and all others to choose to dress modestly like we should already know God wants us to.

This post will not focus exclusively on female immodesty. Immodesty is not strictly a female problem. Both males and females dress immodestly, and both struggle with porn addiction.

Addiction. It’s everywhere. It often goes unacknowledged, but it’s never benign. Perhaps nowhere is that more true than in the case of the world’s pandemic pornography addiction. Some wonder why pornography addiction is so pervasive and so hard to quit. There are various answers to that question, but one important answer is very simple (almost too simple). But, it is not politically correct, nor is it generally accepted by contemporary western culture. Talking about it openly may invite incessant mocking or even surprising vitriol, and addressing it effectively would interfere with the careers and social life of a lot of people. So, many people who might care seem to just do their best to forget about it altogether. It becomes plain to see why we’re still battling this issue instead of celebrating the victory.

One big secret to the success of porn is that its triggers are nearly everywhere.

What’s a porn trigger?
A porn trigger is a visual stimulus that causes a reaction in the brain that arouses and begins (whether subtly or more powerfully) to prepare a person for a sexual encounter. It’s like pulling a grenade pin. This reaction can occur in both males and females, though males may have a higher rate of porn addiction.

You’re familiar with different kinds of addiction: alcoholism, nicotine, and heroine are three examples. An obvious difference between something like alcohol and porn is that with porn you don’t have to take an external physical substance into your system to get the high. The visual stimulus (porn or porn trigger) is corrupted light and takes advantage of a natural sexual process in an unholy way. It “tells” the brain to go ahead with the adrenaline, endorphin, and dopamine releases that, when abused, lead to dependency and eventual addiction. These addictive substances are manufactured inside your own body, and they are extremely potent. They’re positive substances in normal moderate day-to-day living in a chaste society, but porn makes them pernicious.

Porn is easy to access, and the world-wide porn hazard brings with it its own kinds of triggers. They include various degrees of nudity, which includes tight, sheer, or otherwise revealing clothing, which is worn by nearly everyone of both sexes nearly everywhere. (This type of immodesty isn’t the only porn trigger around. It’s just one of the most ubiquitous.)

The triggers also show up in internet ads, billboards, bus ads, business signs, mud flaps, magazines, text books, social media, internet shops, “family-friendly” television shows and “family-appropriate” movie trailers, movies, commercials, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, media produced by religious organizations, public swimming pools, beaches, sport events, and just about anywhere else you can think of.

The ubiquitous porn triggers in our society are generally tolerated and sometimes celebrated. I hear people say, “If you don’t like these things, just don’t look at them,” much like other people will tell an alcoholic, “If you want to stop your dependence on alcohol, get some help and stop drinking.” Yet, alcoholics aren’t force-fed doses of alcohol everywhere they go like porn addicts are force-fed porn triggers. And if they were, the person forcing the alcohol would probably get arrested and go to jail. When an alcoholic goes to church or work, fellow worshipers or coworkers don’t force open the alcoholic’s mouth and pour vodka down their throat. When an alcoholic visits a news site on the internet or shops at a mall, the ads don’t pin the person on the ground, force open their mouth, and pour whisky down their throat. The same can’t be said of porn triggers. When a porn addict goes to church or work, fellow attendees or coworkers do force porn triggers into the addict’s mind by wearing tight, sheer, or otherwise revealing clothing. When a porn addict visits a news site on the internet or shops at the mall, the ads do force porn triggers into the addict with nudity, lingerie, and other stimulating images. And it should be considered an act of aggression.

It happens without consent
In the normal travels of everyday life, choice usually isn’t involved with porn triggers — at least not the choice of the addict who is striving to recover. It happens without the addict’s consent. It happens whether the addict wants it or not.

“I’ll dress how I want. I’m not responsible for what other people think about.” I’ve heard that general idea expressed so many times, occasionally in the least likely of places. This response may demonstrate some degree of ignorance of porn addiction and its triggers. It isn’t always about what the addict chooses to think about. When it comes to the recovering porn addict being force-fed porn triggers, it’s about the biological and chemical process the revealing and sexualized images push into the addicts mind without the addict’s consent.

We’ve got to understand that normal brains interpret nudity and revealing attire as sexual imagery if we’re ever going to start to help porn addicts. It is healthy to be aroused by nudity and revealing attire when such experiences happen between a man and a woman who are rightly married. But in contemporary society, dressing in revealing attire is commonplace, which means that one of the preliminary stages of sexual relations is constantly being engaged (anywhere from subtly to powerfully). It sabotages natural processes that are designed for a specific relationship.

Porn triggers cause a natural and automatic reaction in the brain that is beyond human ability to fully control. Can we stop our brains from flooding adrenaline, endorphins, and dopamine just by wishing it so? Some have learned to avoid dangerous situations while others have learned to corral the sexual energy into activities less harmful than porn use, but it becomes obvious just how enormous the task is when you understand how ubiquitous porn triggers are.

Triggers are EVERYWHERE in our society
It’s not just a once-in-a-blue-moon encounter. Encounters happen dozens of times every day. In trying to tally up the number of triggers encountered in a normal day, a person’s tally may easily surpass 100 if not 1000.

Imagine if an alcoholic trying to recover was force-fed just one ounce of vodka even 1 time, let alone 100. They’d likely backslide. In many cases, a pornography addict’s only mistake is to look in the direction of the porn trigger. In other words, the addict has eyes and uses them. I guess addicts could leave visual porn triggers behind for good if they’d just pluck out their eyeballs, but should we expect porn addicts to either accept and embrace their affliction or discard their eyes? Instead, maybe our society could do a better job of keeping sexuality in the privacy of marriage where it belongs.

While porn addiction can be overcome, it is ferociously difficult. We can each do more to help. To that end, I pray that our society hasn’t entirely abandoned chastity and that individuals don’t only feel self worth when they flaunt their sexuality on every man, woman, and child alive who shares the space.

Nearly every person I know has either battled a porn habit or porn addiction in the past and is currently in recovery, currently feels hopelessly addicted and is struggling to come up for air, or has (or had) a close relationship with a porn addict. Our people need to pay attention and do more to help.

These porn issues often contribute to many social cancers, including addiction and all of its ramifications, rape, infidelity, divorce, abortion, prostitution, and sex slavery. Yet, people still defend porn triggers like a momma bear defends her cubs. They might say, “In our free society, porn and its triggers (including sex-charged advertising that is piped into people’s homes or put on display for all to see) are protected by free speech.” Porn and its triggers are not victimless. They are not harmless. They don’t affect exclusively the lives of those who desire and seek to view them. In fact, the reason advertisers use porn triggers in advertising is because they know how the triggers affect the mind. In other words, the PornTrigger Effect is a desired outcome. I wonder if these same advertisers know that what they do is a significant factor in the destruction of meaningful relationships.

And this “speech” is everywhere. When someone is exercising their true right to free speech, another person who doesn’t want to listen has the right to walk away. With porn triggers, there is no walking away, unless you become a hermit. If you want to work, eat, drive, shop for clothing and groceries, have a family, go to church, and do most anything a person should be free to do in a civil society, you must endure near-constant exposure to blatant porn triggers.

Triggers are manipulative
I wonder if the same people who say that porn and porn triggers are protected by free speech would also say that a drug dealer would be within their constitutional rights to walk around injecting heroine into the veins of innocent passersby in order to get them to take a course of action that favors the dealer. If porn, then why not this?

Porn is as addictive as any street drug and can be as destructive, but thanks to porn triggers porn addicts can get a little high and stay high without even choosing to use the drug. All they have to do is encounter sexually charged advertising or others wearing revealing clothing. And if they say anything about it, they are ridiculed or silenced.

It’s sad that porn isn’t all that condemned by our society, and the people in our churches generally condemn porn but seem to embrace its triggers. I don’t know if we’ll live to see the day when sexuality in our culture will again be respected and reserved for husband and wife in the privacy and sanctity of marriage, but I feel impelled to speak out anyway. We’ve all been there. We either are the addict or we personally know the addict. Let’s show solidarity with them and those their addictions have hurt. Top-down, bottom-up, and middle-out, let’s eradicate this plague.

Modesty
Modesty—the commandment to avoid a tempting manner or appearance—is fixed and eternal.

Perhaps as pandemic as porn addiction is the great tragedy of causing the porn trigger, whether through naivety, through weakness, or intentionally. And this isn’t something that only women do. Men are just as responsible.

Why do we dress in public in a way that will likely awaken the sexual response in friends and strangers alike? Why will we not keep all of our sexuality within its intended scope?

Consider this inspired counsel:
God has continually counseled His posterity to dress modestly. When you are . . . modestly dressed, you invite the companionship of the Spirit and you can be a good influence on others. Your dress . . . influence[s] the way you and others act. Never lower your standards of dress. Do not use a special occasion as an excuse to be immodest. When you dress immodestly, you send a message that is contrary to your identity as a son or daughter of God. You also send the message that you are using your body to get attention and approval. Immodest clothing is any clothing that is tight, sheer, or revealing in any other manner. – For the Strength of Youth

I witness that this counsel applies to adults as well and that it applies in all situations when how we dress may affect others. And when we compromise and rationalize, no matter how popular or innocent an activity may seem, we could easily become porn triggers. And in those moments, instead of bearing one another’s burdens that they may be light, we add to another’s burdens and make them heavier.

There is hope. There is a way back to the light and the right. It is through Jesus Christ’s atonement. Jesus Christ can help a person’s very motives to change. He can access and cleanse the heart. Sincere prayer and His enabling power of grace can make all the difference.

Remember that there is healthy and righteous expression of sexual intimacy. It doesn’t involve pornography or public displays of immodesty. It happens naturally between husband and wife. Immodesty and porn complicates and corrupts that natural expression. If you have found that your marital intimacy has been damaged by porn, there is healing to be found in repentance and in beginning to practice healthy habits. Come Unto Jesus.

With a long history of teaching members the importance of modesty, the leadership of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has made it clear that modesty is important. It’s not taught as a temporary cultural necessity. On the contrary. Modesty is taught as a commandment, an Eternal principle, and an attribute of the character of God. When we support and teach modesty, we build the kingdom of God.

To establish beyond question that modesty is a critical principle in The Church of Jesus Christ, I’ve put together what turns out to be a rather large section of quotes about modesty, immodesty, references, and links to authoritative sources.

When I did a Google search using the search operator “modesty” site:lds.org, Google showed 2490 search results. Many of these quotes refer to modesty in females, but modesty is absolutely relevant to both males and females. Note that modesty is more than avoiding revealing clothing. It also has to do with gaudy attire (in addition to other things, some of which have nothing to do with clothing but more to do with our attitude or paradigm or perspective and our thoughts and words), which might include expensive clothing or extreme styles that aren’t necessarily revealing. But the purpose of this post is to focus specifically on modesty as it relates to revealing clothing.

After Adam and Eve partook of the forbidden fruit, their eyes were opened and they became aware that they were naked. Adam and Eve tried to cover themselves with simple aprons made of fig leaves. But the aprons were not enough, so the Lord made them more modest coats of skins. (See Genesis 3:7, 21.) God had a higher standard then, just as He does now. His standards are not those of the world. As He says in Isaiah 55:8–9: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Because modesty is one of the Lord’s “higher ways” and not a passing social trend, it has been taught throughout the ages. … Modesty shows humility. … As modesty becomes the virtue that regulates and moderates action in our lives, we too will find an increased sense of self-worth. Recall the promises of Doctrine and Covenants 121:45–46: “Let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distill upon thy soul as the dews from heaven. “The Holy Ghost shall be thy constant companion, and thy scepter an unchanging scepter of righteousness and truth.” Silvia H. …the choices we make to appear and behave modestly send a powerful message that we understand our identity as sons and daughters of God and that we have chosen to stand in holy places. … Modesty is a principle that will help keep us safely on the covenant path as we progress to the presence of God. … Modesty invites the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. Some Latter-day Saints may feel that modesty is a tradition of the Church or that it has evolved from conservative, puritanical behavior. Modesty is not just cultural. Modesty is a gospel principle that applies to people of all cultures and ages. In fact, modesty is fundamental to being worthy of the Spirit. To be modest is to be humble, and being humble invites the Spirit to be with us. Of course, modesty is not new. It was taught to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. “Unto Adam … and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them” (Genesis 3:21; see also Moses 4:27). … When we recognize our bodies as the gifts they are and when we understand the missions they help us fulfill, we protect and honor them by how we act and dress. … Modesty is at the center of being pure and chaste, both in thought and deed. Thus, because it guides and influences our thoughts, behavior, and decisions, modesty is at the core of our character. Our clothing is more than just covering for our bodies; it reflects who we are and what we want to be, both here in mortality and in the eternities that will follow. … When we know who we are—children of God—and understand that our outward appearance affects our inward spirituality and ultimately our behavior, we show respect for God, for ourselves, and for those around us by being modest in dress and behavior. … Are we determined to be Saints in the kingdom of God, or are we more comfortable in the ways of the world? Modesty in dress, appearance, thought, and behavior is an individual, personal witness to the Lord that we honor Him and that we ‘delight’ in the covenants that we have made in sacred priesthood ordinances. Source


Your body is God’s sacred creation. Respect it as a gift from God, and do not defile it in any way. Through your dress and appearance, you can show the Lord that you know how precious your body is. You can show that you are a disciple of Jesus Christ. Source


“Another of the many things that lead to unchastity is immodesty. Today many young women and young men are smug in their knowledge of the facts of life. They think they know all the answers. They talk about sex as freely as they talk about cars and shows and clothes. And a spirit of immodesty has developed until nothing seems to be sacred. One contributing factor to immodesty and a breakdown of moral values is the modern dress. I am sure that the immodest clothes that are worn by some of our young women, and their mothers, contribute directly and indirectly to the immorality of this age. Even fathers sometimes encourage it. I wonder if our young sisters realize the temptation they are flaunting before young men when they leave their bodies partly uncovered. … I am positive that the clothes we wear can be a tremendous factor in the gradual breakdown of our love of virtue, our steadfastness in chastity.” … One of our most important responsibilities as members of God’s Church is to set a proper example of modesty and virtue. The Lord’s standards of modesty are not those of the world. The Prophet Joseph Smith through our modern church officers have asked us to create our own styles and fashions (see Spencer W. Kimball, “A Style of Our Own,” BYU Devotional Assembly, 13 Feb. 1951). President Brigham Young described the kind of fashion that is a model for us. He said: “Suppose that a female angel were to come into your house and you had the privilege of seeing her, how would she be dressed? … She would be neat and nice, her countenance full of glory, brilliant, bright, and perfectly beautiful, and in every act her gracefulness would charm the heart of every beholder. There is nothing needless about her. None of my sisters believe that these useless, foolish fashions are followed in heaven. Well, then, pattern [your lives] after good and heavenly things, …” (in Deseret News [Weekly], 30 Apr. 1873, 196).

… When you are prompted to immodesty in dress . . . you are playing Satan’s game and are becoming the victim of his lying tongue. Just so, if you allow the vain theories of men to cause you to doubt your relationship to God, the divine purpose of marriage, and your future prospects for eternity, you are being victimized by the master of lies, because all such is contrary to truth, which saves you from these perils. Virtue encompasses modesty—in thought, language, dress, and demeanor. And modesty is the foundation stone of chastity. Just as one does not hike trails inhabited by rattlesnakes barefoot, similarly in today’s world it is essential to our very safety to be modest. When we are modest, we show others that we understand our relationship with our Father in Heaven . . . We demonstrate that we love Him and that we will stand as a witness of Him in all things. Being modest lets others know that we “cherish virtue” (“Dearest Children, God Is Near You,” Hymns, no. 96). Modesty is not a matter of being “hip.” It is a matter of the heart and being holy. It is not about being fashionable. It is about being faithful. It is not about being cool. It is about being chaste and keeping covenants. It is not about being popular, but about being pure. Modesty has everything to do with keeping our footing securely on the path of chastity and virtue. It is clear that virtue is a requirement for exaltation. Mormon helps us understand that both virtue and chastity are “most dear and precious above all things” (Moroni 9:9). We simply cannot afford to be casual or get too close to the edge. For you to fully claim Heavenly Father’s blessings and protection, we ask you to stay true to the standards of the gospel of Jesus Christ and not slavishly follow the whims of fads and fashions. The Church will never deny your moral agency regarding what you should wear and exactly how you should look. But the Church will always declare standards and will always teach principles. As Sister Susan Tanner taught this morning, one of those principles is modesty. In the gospel of Jesus Christ, modesty in appearance is always in fashion. Our standards are not socially negotiable. The For the Strength of Youth pamphlet is very clear in its call for young women to avoid clothing that is too tight, too short, or improperly revealing in any manner, including bare midriffs. Parents, please review this booklet with your children. Second only to your love, they need your limits. Young women, choose your clothing the way you would choose your friends—in both cases choose that which improves you and would give you confidence standing in the presence of God. Good friends would never embarrass you, demean you, or exploit you. Neither should your clothing. Jeffrey R. Holland


What would happen if we truly treated our bodies as temples? The result would be a dramatic increase in chastity, modesty, observance of the Word of Wisdom, and a similar decrease in the problems of pornography and abuse, for we would regard the body, like the temple, as a sacred sanctuary of the Spirit. Just as no unclean thing may enter the temple, we would be vigilant to keep impurity of any sort from entering the temple of our bodies. … The word modesty means “measured.” It is related to moderate. The principle of modesty—the commandment that you should avoid a tempting manner or appearance—is fixed and eternal and will not deviate. … “As I walk along the streets on my way to or from the Church Office Building, I see both young and older women, many of them ‘daughters of Zion,’ who are immodestly dressed. … The wearing of immodest clothing, which may seem like a small matter, takes something away from our young women or young men in the Church. It simply makes it more difficult to keep those eternal principles by which we will have to live if we are to return to the presence of our Father in heaven.” (New Era, January 1971, p. 5.)


Modesty in dress and manner will assist in protecting against temptation. It may be difficult to find modest clothing, but it can be found with enough effort. … I do not hesitate to say that you can be attractive without being immodest. You can be refreshing and buoyant and beautiful in your dress and in your behavior. Your appeal to others will come of your personality, which is the sum of your individual characteristics. Be happy. Wear a smile. Have fun. But draw some rigid parameters, a line in the sand, as it were, beyond which you will not go. The Lord speaks of those who refuse counsel and who “stumble and fall when the storms descend, and the winds blow, and the rains descend, and beat upon their house” (D&C 90:5). Gordon B. Hinckley

California State has had over half of its deadliest, most destructive, and largest top-20 wildfires in the last 4 years alone, since the August 2017 Total Solar Eclipse.

I live in the Intermountain West and have had first-hand experience with the smoke from the fires, with my location sometimes being said to have the worst air quality on the planet as a result of the fires burning along the West Coast.

California is known to have disastrous policies and an extremely wicked culture in many parts of the state. Many people have fled California for various reasons, not the least of which is to live by people who share their moral values.

But, it isn’t lost on me that the smoke coming from California and Oregon and Washington are symbolic of something else. When people flee California for economic reasons alone and don’t leave behind the culture to burn to ash with the brush, they bring a toxic blend of errant values and infect their new location with them, just like the smoke carried in the wind.

While sciency reasons as to the cause of many disasters around us abound, let us recognize God’s hand. He wants us to repent as individuals, as communities, as nations. This is the land of the free, but our freedoms are vanishing. What we value is liberty, which comes of the right use of freedom. May God preserve liberty to the righteous, but I trust the “fires” of calamity will burn hot until the people repent.

American Total Solar Eclipses in the 21st Century

“I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below.” Acts 2:19

Introduction

In 2016, while reading some news online, I stumbled across the fact that there would be a total solar eclipse in 2017 observable from America, and then I investigated it more and discovered a lot of interesting information. I’m naturally interested in eclipses anyway, but the reason the 2017, 2024, 2045, and 2052 eclipses caught my interest more than usual is because of their paths and their timing and what would happen in the general time surrounding the eclipses. These eclipses are significant. First, let’s take a look in detail at the eclipses in 2017, 2024, 2045, and 2052. Then we will see more about the paths of each of the eclipses that will “touch” America from 2017 until the end of the year 2099.

2024 and 2017 Eclipses

And here is the path of the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse:

The two eclipse paths are shaped like an X chromosome.

A total solar eclipse has a limited path or zone where you would have to be physically located in order to see the total phase of the eclipse. Eclipse paths have a northern limit, a path center, and a southern limit. In most of the above pictures, this zone is marked by a northern blue line, a red center line, and a southern blue line. The green and purple marker pins have to do with the points of greatest eclipse and greatest duration, which I won’t discuss here.

Facts about total solar eclipses in America:
The last total solar eclipse that touched the United States was August 21, 2017, and it pathed across the entire mainland United States. Before that, the last total solar eclipse to path across the entire mainland of the United States was on June 8, 1918, which went from Washington to Florida.

Facts about these events:
The August 21, 2017 event went across the entire mainland from Oregon to South Carolina.
The August 21, 2017 event casted a “shadow” over the entire country.
The northern limit of the August 21, 2017 eclipse included Adam-ondi-Ahman, Haun’s Mill, and Far West.
The southern limit of the August 21, 2017 eclipse included Liberty Jail and Independence.
The center line of the August 21, 2017 eclipse was about half way between Adam-ondi-Ahman and Independence.

The August 21, 2017 eclipse center line went over Makanda, Illinois.

The April 8, 2024 eclipse center line also goes over Makanda (just northwest of it, less than 4 miles away).

Makanda (also near Pamona) is essentially where “X marks the spot” for the two eclipses. (They “X” at Cedar Lake.) The “X” is located in the Shawnee National Forest.

The April 8, 2024 eclipse goes over Kirtland, Palmyra, and the Hill Cumorah (Palmyra is right near Cumorah). This map also has Cedar Lake (bottom left marker pin) for reference. (This eclipse also goes over Hiram, Thompson, Orange, and Amherst, OH and Manchester, Fayette, and Perrysburg, NY. In addition to other locations mentioned in this article, each of these locations is significant to members of The Church of Jesus Christ.)

The April 8, 2024 eclipse will cast a “shadow” over the entire mainland United States.
This eclipse will happen approaching the 7th year after the first event (6 years 7 months and 18 days).

Why These Eclipses Catch My Attention

Why Do These Eclipses Catch My Attention? The reason the 2017 and 2024 eclipses interest me has to do with certain events that I believe happened in these areas during Book of Mormon times, certain events that happened in these areas in the early history of the church, and prophecies related to some of these areas relevant to the last days. I won’t list all of those details here. If you know the events and prophecies I refer to and have added insight, please leave me a note. It also interests me because of my belief that the Nephites and perhaps some or many of the Lamanites of the Book of Mormon lived in the heartland of America, including in these very locations. The “X” is right over an area that I believe to be of great significance, reminding me (when you consider the 7 year timetable) of the 7 year “standoff” between Lachoneus and Gidgiddoni and the gadianton robbers. (Remember that Giddianhi invited Lachoneus to make an “agreement with hell” at that time, see 3 Nephi 3.) That, plus the prophesied events to transpire in the near future, plus the location of these eclipses, plus the 7-year timeline, all connect to make me believe that this cannot be a coincidence. I do not believe it is a coincidence. I do believe God is giving us something to think about, but you will have to do your own work in study, faith, obedience, and service to know what the Lord wants you to know. Don’t take it from me. Please get your own answers!

What I am not saying:
I’m not saying I think Jesus Christ’s second coming to all the world will happen on the day of these eclipses. I don’t know the day or hour.
I’m not saying I think that these eclipses are the sign of the coming of the Son of Man.
I’m not saying that I think anything will happen on the exact day or at the exact time of the eclipses that will suddenly jolt all of America. I’m not ruling out that something could happen, but my purpose is not to come on here and make some specific prediction about something happening on the day of one of the eclipses.

What I am saying:
I am saying that I believe these eclipses (and potentially the eclipses in 2044/2045 and 2052) are relevant to and indicative of tribulation(✔︎).
I am saying that I believe the things that will happen will come about in the days, weeks, months, and years surrounding the eclipses(✔︎). Significant things may or may not happen on the exact day of the eclipses.
The kinds of events that come to mind for me include both wonderfully welcome and tragic happenings, like famine(✔︎), pestilence(✔︎), disease(✔︎), terrorism(✔︎), civil unrest (political, cultural, etc.)(✔︎), wars(✔︎), earthquake(✔︎), tsunami, severe weather events(✔︎), economic hardship(✔︎), miracles, anticipated fulfillment of prophecy, etc.

Days between the 2017/2024 and 2045/2052 eclipses:
Part of my initial sense of wonder about the 2017 and 2024 eclipses is that the 2024 eclipse happens close to 7 years after the 2017 eclipse. 2422 days sits between the two eclipses.

When I saw that there would be an eclipse in 2045 followed close to 7 years by an eclipse in 2052, I wondered how many days would sit between them. Answer? Exactly 2422 days, just like the eclipses in 2017 and 2024!

Note that approximately 21 years passes between the 2024 and 2045 eclipses. Also note that approximately 21 years passed between the end of WWI and WWII.

The Chile and Argentina Eclipses at Halfway Points
A total solar eclipse pathed over Chile and Argentina on December 14, 2020, exactly (to the day) the midpoint between the 2017 and 2024 eclipses.

Days between 2017 and 2024  total solar eclipses: 2422.
December 14, 2020 total solar eclipse lands exactly to the day the midpoint between the two.
Days between 2045 and 2052 total solar eclipses that X over the USA: 2422.
December 5, 2048 total solar eclipse lands exactly to the day the midpoint between the two.
The 2020 and 2048 midpoint eclipses both path over Chile and Argentina in South America.

WWI Rhyme
It has been said that history does not repeat itself, but history does rhyme. The fact that the 2017/2024 and 2045/2052 eclipses happen about 100 years after WWI and WWII respectively (give or take a few years), and that there is approximately 21 years between the 2024 and 2045 eclipses and there was approximately 21 years between the end of WWI (1918) and beginning of WWII (1939), has inspired me to look for “rhymes” related to these two eclipses and the two world wars. I have found one potential WWI rhyme so far. WWI started on July 28, 1914. On August 21, 1914 there was a total solar eclipse that traveled over a part of the world impacted heavily by WWI. Here is the path of that eclipse. Our eclipse this year also lands on August 21, and the world is already in chaos with many whisperings of a world war on the horizon and with some claiming we are in a world war now but that the war is not being advertised as such.

Salem, USA and Jerusalem, Israel
At the 2017 eclipse, the moon began to cover the sun in Salem, OR around 9:05 AM. During the eclipse in Salem, the sun set in Jerusalem. It is interesting to note that Salem means Peace, and Jerusalem means City of Peace. While the moon begins casting a shadow over Peace in America, the sun sets on the City of Peace in Israel. Expect prophetic rhymes in that.

New Madrid Fault
I learned about this earthquake zone during my natural disaster studies in college. The New Madrid fault is known to produce extremely large and damaging earthquakes, but earthquakes along the New Madrid that are similar in magnitude to those produced by the well-known faults of California can be more damaging than those in California because the earth in the heartland amplifies the waves due to its unique make up. It just so happens that both the 2017 and the 2024 eclipses go straight through this fault zone. The town of Makanda sits atop the major center of the fault zone like a hat or a crown. Here’s a map to show what I mean (note that I put the black lines on the image to indicate the paths of the eclipses):

An eclipse happened in 1811 and an earthquake in that same year along the New Madrid. In fact, in recorded history, the most powerful earthquake to shake the USA east of the Rockies happened on December 16, 1811, and it happened on the New Madrid. Estimates put the powerful quake at around magnitude 7.5-7.9, but I’ve read the fault can produce earthquakes in the 8s. That year, in September, there was an annular solar eclipse that pathed a few hundred miles northeast of the edge of the fault zone. The edge of the path of totality closest to the fault zone went through Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. The edge of the fault zone closest to the path of totality is in the southern Illinois area. The path of totality of the 2017 eclipse was much closer to the fault zone than the 1811 eclipse, and so too will be the path for the 2024 eclipse. In fact, if I’m interpreting my research correctly, the paths of totality go directly over the northeastern and northwestern edges of the fault zone.

Juan de Fuca Plate
The 2017 eclipse also pathed directly over the Juan de Fuca plate, which plate is off the coast of Northern California, Oregon, Washington State, and Vancouver Island in Canada. The Juan de Fuca is capable of earthquakes of magnitude 9.0 or larger, which are capable of producing massive tsunami.

Teton Fault and Yellowstone
The 2017 eclipse pathed directly over the Teton Fault in Wyoming and skirted the southern border of Yellowstone National Park.

Eastern Tennessee Seismic Zone
The 2017 eclipse pathed directly over the Eastern Tennessee Seismic Zone.

Middleton Place-Summerville Seismic Zone
The 2017 eclipse pathed directly over the Middleton Place-Summerville Seismic Zone in South Carolina.

Trail of Tears
The August 21, 2017 event pathed directly over about half of the northern land route of the Trail of Tears, which is a path the Cherokee Nation took when they were forced out of their tribal lands. Thousands of Cherokee perished. This trail happens to go directly through the Shawnee National Forest, only 10-20 miles south of where the two eclipses cross paths. I love the Native American people of the heartland and surrounding areas. I pray for them and know that their best days are ahead. The 2024 eclipse will also path over a large part of the Trail of Tears.

Civil War
The August 21, 2017 event pathed over Fort Sumter in South Carolina. The official beginning of the war was on April 12, 1861 when the Confederate forces bombarded the Union-controlled Fort Sumter in Charleston Bay.

Exclusively the USA
The August 21, 2017 event was the first time a total solar eclipse visited the land that is now the USA and no other nation since the 1257 eclipse.

Extermination Order
The August 21, 2017 event pathed right over Jefferson City, which is Missouri’s capital. In 1838, Missouri Governor Lilburn Boggs issued an executive order authorizing the extermination of all members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints living in the state (this executive order was rescinded in by Governor Kit Bond in 1976, two years shy of 140 years after the order was given). Gen. John B. Clark, the General to whom the executive order was addressed (he was responsible to carry out the order), wrote the following soon after the “Mormons” surrendered: “. . . you must not think of staying here another season, or of putting in crops, for the moment you do this, the citizens will be upon you; and if I am called here again, in a case of a non-compliance of a treaty made, do not think I will do as I have now. You need not expect any mercy, but extermination, for I am determined the governor’s orders be executed.” In so many instances, the outcasts were robbed of their dignity, their virtue, their lives, their liberty, and their pursuit of happiness. They were denied their freedom to peaceably practice their religion, their freedom to peaceably assemble, their freedom of speech, their freedom of press; and their petitions for redress of grievances went largely ignored. Other basic God-given freedoms were violated. Even with this heartbreaking history, Missouri is a place of hope for members of the church. Some of the most significant events in all of human history occurred there and will yet occur there.

DANIEL 12 AND MATTHEW 24 –ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION
Daniel 12:11-12: “And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.”
Matthew 24 speaking of the last days: “And again shall the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, be fulfilled.

All Church of Jesus Christ temples closed on 3/25/2020 (a daily Sacrifice taken away in Israel).
3/25/2020 was also the last day of the year on the biblical Hebrew calendar.
1290 days later is 10/6/2023, the last day of Feast of Tabernacles.
Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) is one of the three biblically mandated pilgrimage festivals on which Jews were commanded to make a pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem.
1335 days after 3/25/2020 is 11/20/2023.

A total solar eclipse pathed directly over Mount St. Helens on February 26, 1979. Mount St. Helens erupted on May 18, 1980.

September 23, 2017 – “Revelation 12 Sign”
Several people have mentioned or asked about the “Revelation 12 sign” that took place on September 23, 2017. Yes, I am aware of it but didn’t write about it, because others had already done so in detail. I might pick up the topic at some point if I find anything that hasn’t been considered.

22 Years – The Family: A Proclamation to the World
On September 23, 1995, President Gordon B. Hinckley read The Family: A Proclamation to the World from the pulpit at the General Relief Society Meeting of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Exactly 22 years later (8036 days), on September 23, 2017, there was a General Women’s Session of the General Conference of the church. This is the same day as the so-called “Revelation 12 Sign.” (The total solar eclipse on August 21st was 8003 days after the September 23, 1995 meeting.) Note that in the proclamation read in 1995, the following warning was given: “. . . we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets.” Since that day, the devil has waged an all-out war on the family, and many people (including in the USA) have fallen victim to his deceit. I personally feel that the calamities we currently face are a taste of what is coming if we don’t repent. We need to protect the family unit as God designed it. Revelation 12 is interpreted (as it relates to the last days) as the Church of Jesus Christ giving birth to the Kingdom of God, with the devil standing ready to try to devour it soon after its arrival. I’ve written about chiasmus before, and I personally believe we’ve got another instance of it here. And, Revelation 12 has several “rhymes” from Jesus until today. One rhyme happened when Mary gave birth to Jesus and they fled to Egypt for safety. Another rhyme was after Jesus was crucified and the church tried to live the law of consecration but was soon destroyed by persecution and apostasy. Another rhyme seems to have happened, in a way, in the early days of this church. A final fulfillment will happen between now and the return of our King, Jesus Christ. ABBA.

Dear Reader,

It is urgent that all people repent. Leaders of most peoples have become drunk on delusion (the misleading of the mind), with words and works leading people into error, and so too have their followers become delusional. Without repentance, God’s “left arm” will execute the judgment, as God Himself forewarned. It will begin upon the wicked of His covenant people, and from there it will go forth. God will not hear the wicked person’s cry for help in that day, because their hands are filled with blood; they must first be made clean. Let all the wicked wash themselves clean.

Repent.
Have you any idolatry? Reduce your idols to “rubble”, melt down their “metal”, and destroy their “stone”. Forsake your false gods. Make the God of Israel your rock, your fortress. Idolatry is a testament of irreverence toward God’s commandment, “Have no other gods before me. Do not make any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Do not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God.”

Repent.
Care for your widows and fatherless in righteous ways; ensure your people save all of their sexuality for the permanence of a permanent marriage, after seeking and getting revelation from God as to the identity of their spouse; teach your people, by word and example, to be a righteous influence by dressing modestly, and never persecute for their modesty those who do dress modestly and who stand up for it; and use your sexual powers in holy ways, never to include adultery (immodesty, lust, sexual promiscuity), homosexuality, and other abuses.

Repent.
Do not run after worldly praise and worldly rewards instead of the praise and reward of the Lord God; honor the Divinely-patterned roles of men and women; and sober up from drunkenness on delusion, which is the misleading of your minds. Prefer the wisdom of God to the prudence of the world; show in your feelings and behaviors that you revere God’s true and holy ways, with high regard for His laws and principles.

Repent.
Require God’s justice; forsake all unjust violence and the taking of innocent life, human and animal, without just cause, including abortion; cease violent gaming, during which the practice of glorifying unjust violence for sport and recreation stains the soul. Encourage and sustain just laws; and hold in even higher regard God’s righteous Eternal laws, remembering to obey them.

Repent.
Care for the poor by imparting of your vast substance to their need; and cease to take courage and confidence in worldliness, immodesty, and the “fine” things of Babylon instead of taking courage in virtue and holiness before God. Philanthropy must be done in truth and charity, with holiness before the Lord.

Repent.
Show respect and appreciation for the righteousness the valiant demonstrate, and never abandon or persecute them.

Repent.
Show clarity in mind and righteousness in thought, leading aright your people and families, sanctifying your lives and places, arriving together in your promised lands; while there was a snare, you may then find your refuge.

Repent.
Prefer the mighty arm of God to the arm of flesh, agree with God as opposed to the enemy of your eternal souls, build up Zion and not wickedness in a wicked world, refuse secret abominations, revere God, and be honest and trustworthy in your dealings.

Repent.
Draw near to God in heart and mind, word and deed; may your respect to Him be taught not by the precepts of men but by the truth in the Holy Spirit.

Repent.
Uncover eyes and give them light. Be unlike the wicked. The wicked world’s leaders, like lazy guard-dogs, do not awaken to true danger. Its approach produces no barking. Loving blissful slumber, the powerful lie down sleeping. They love rewards and bribes, and they can never have enough; they all look their own way, each for their own gain, from their quarter. In the times of calamity, instead of teaching repentance they ask for prayers for a return to their normal, with even more prosperity in a wicked world than before. They love their vices and do not want the day of judgment to cleanse the world of sin, because God will find them guilty and sweep them away. Repent!

Repent.
The wicked love to build great buildings, expand their portfolios, and send and invite influence to and from all over the world, all while having forgotten their Creator, thus being influenced for wickedness and influencing for wickedness; for this, God will send destruction upon the people. Instead, seek first God’s kingdom, and what is needful will be added unto you.

Repent.
The wicked set up women to rule over them in the manner of a wicked world, and they accept children as their oppressors, all while creating division against righteousness; lead your people away from error and establish the righteousness of their path.

Repent.
Call good good, and call evil evil. Many pastors, civic leaders, lawyers, business leaders, and educators are wicked. And when the Lord smites them, they don’t turn to Him and repent. Instead, they pray for a return to their wickedness. For this reason, God will “cut off [their] head and tail, branch and rush in one day.” The head is the elderly honorable man, and the tail is the prophet that teaches falsehood. Beware and cut off unrepentant leaders who lead you into error, and know that those who follow them are led to destruction.

Repent.
When building fine sanctuaries, house your poor; when buying fine clothing, clothe those lacking clothing; care for your poor; show compassion to the meek and the poor in heart; and be unladen of the pride that causes a person to withhold their excess from the needy. Soften the stiff necks and humble the high heads. Pride, wickedness, abominations, and whoredoms are evidence of a people astray. Only a very few humble followers of the Messiah are in the right way; yet, even they are led into error because they are taught by the precepts of men. Oh wise according to the world’s wisdom, oh educated in the world’s learning, oh rich from the world’s wealth; repent of being puffed up in the pride of your hearts, and of preaching false teachings, committing whoredoms, and perverting the right way of the Lord; wo, wo, wo be unto you, says God Almighty, for you will be thrust down to hell unless you repent!

Repent.
Remember the warning against walking in the pride of your hearts; there are few who do not lift themselves up in the pride of their hearts, wearing very fine clothing, envying, having strifes and malice, persecuting the righteous, and all kinds of iniquities. Churches are very polluted because of pride and the love of money, substance, and fine clothing; and they love adorning their churches more than caring for the poor and needy, and the sick and afflicted. People have become pollutions, hypocrites, and false teachers; and they sell themselves for that which will canker; and why have they polluted their churches? Why are they ashamed to take upon them the name of Messiah? Why do they value the temporary over the Eternal? Why do they adorn themselves with what has no life, and yet let the hungry, the needy, the naked, and the sick and afflicted pass them by, and they don’t notice them? Why have they built up secret groups to get gain, and cause that widows should mourn before the Lord, and also orphans to mourn before the Lord, and also the blood of their fathers and their husbands to cry unto the Lord from the ground for vengeance upon their heads? Look, God’s sword of vengeance hangs over them; and the time is coming soon when God will avenge the blood of the sanctified upon them, for he will not suffer their cries any longer.

Repent.
There is a light among you, even the fulness of the gospel; receive it. Perceive the light, and turn your hearts to God and away from the precepts of men. Rejoice, for in this generation the times of the Gentiles will be fulfilled and God will remember His covenants to the house of Israel, and He will gather in the righteous from all nations.

Repent.
Darkness covers minds, and God views all flesh as having become corrupt. Therefore, God’s vengeance is quickly coming upon the Earth’s people. It will be a day of wrath, of burning, of desolation, of weeping, of mourning, and of lamentation; it will come as a whirlwind upon all the face of the earth. It will begin upon God’s house, and from there it will go forth; first among those who have professed to know God’s name and have not known Him, and have blasphemed against Him. Prepare yourselves against that day by repenting and living in righteousness according to God’s laws and principles.

Repent.
Do not call your sins God’s will, gratify your pride, gratify your vain ambition, or exercise control and dominion and compulsion upon souls through unfounded fear and manipulation. Serve in righteousness so that the heavens will be near; the Spirit of the Lord is grieved because of the wickedness of this world. Those peoples who repent and become obedient to Eternal laws and Eternal principles will in a coming day see their influence and power restored.

Repent.
Instead of seeking the praise of the world, seek God’s praise; instead of seeking popularity in the press, seek God’s good favor; and instead of seeking worldly counsel and wisdom when making decisions, seek to know and do the will of Almighty God.

Repent.
Be leaders with clear sight that lead your people aright. Do not fear political and social consequences when the wicked of the world threaten you for obeying Eternal laws and observing Eternal principles at all times, thus fulfilling your obligations to spiritual matters. Make your sanctuaries holy. Make the houses of your families holy. Be a righteous people.

Repent.
Embrace the fulness of Yeshua’s good news; reject deception, mischief, hypocrisy, murders, priestcrafts, whoredoms, all unchastity, and secret abominations. Repent, and watch and rejoice as God restores you to the lands of your ancestors, complete with security, prosperity, and posterity.

Repent.
In pureness of heart, establish the peace and charity of Zion; encourage your people to be willing to let go of and repent of their wicked “normal” in the pursuit of a higher and holier way. Embrace God’s truth and go into the Kingdom of God, while helping others also enter. Teach only the truth in righteousness, lest converts to truth become sons of hell instead of beacons of light.

The reward of pride before God and spiritual foolishness or wickedness is to reap destruction. The Spirit of the Lord will not always strive with man, and when the Spirit ceases to strive with man, then comes a fast destruction, which is grievous.

But, those who will repent have a glorious promise. They will be delivered. The promises made to the righteous can be theirs. God is salvation.

When I [correct my people by sending them calamities], if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:13-14

Introduction to Ezra’s Eagle

Thousands of years ago, a prophet had a vision and received a prophecy from God that we now call Ezra’s Eagle, because the prophecy included a visual of an eagle with three heads, two wings, and twenty feathers and is from the book of 2 Esdras (Ezra).

This apocryphal prophecy identifies a kingdom in the last days that will rule with great power over the world and will then be destroyed.

The prophecy lines up perfectly with the United States of America beginning with Herbert Hoover. The rest of this article explores the prophecy and seeks to answer the question of why Joe Biden is part of it. It also explains what the prophecy tells us we can expect for the future.

The Ezra’s Eagle Prophecy Text

What follows is the text of the Ezra’s Eagle prophecy written into more plain English. It is taken from the book of 2 Esdras chapters 11 and 12:1-38.

Then I saw in a dream that an eagle came up from the sea. The eagle had twelve feathers on her wings, and she had three heads.

I saw her spread her wings over all the earth, and all the winds of the air blew on her, and were gathered together.

I saw that out of her feathers grew other contrary feathers. The contrary feathers became little and small, but her heads were at rest. The middle head was greater than the others, but all three were resting.

I saw the eagle and her feathers flying and reigning over those who lived on the earth. She was in control of all things under heaven. No one on earth spoke against her.

Then the eagle rose upon her talons and spoke to her feathers, saying, don’t you all watch at the same time. Each of you should sleep until it’s your turn to watch, but let the eagle’s heads be preserved for the end after the rest of you have watched.

The voice I heard wasn’t coming from the eagle’s heads, but it was coming from the midst of her body.

I counted that the eagle had eight contrary feathers.

I saw that on right side of the eagle one feather arose and reigned over all the earth. The end of its reign came, so the next feather stood up and reigned for a long time. Its end came as the other, but it was told by a voice that none after it would attain unto half the time of its rule.

Then the third feather arose and reigned and came to an end. 

The same thing happened with the rest of the feathers on the right side. 

I saw that all twelve feathers stood up to rule, that they ruled, and that then their rule ended, yet some of them were set up to rule but didn’t actually rule. 

I then saw that the twelve feathers and two contrary (or little or small) feathers were gone, and there was nothing else on the eagle’s body except the three resting heads and the other six contrary feathers. 

I saw two of the remaining contrary feathers divide themselves from the other four and go on the right side of the eagle, while the other four remained where they were. And then the four contrary feathers decided to begin their rule.

One was set up but shortly ended, and the second ended sooner that the first. The two remaining also thought to reign, but when they did so the middle resting head, the one that was greater than the other two heads, woke up. The two other heads joined it, and they ate the two feathers that thought to reign.

This great head brought fear to the whole earth and ruled over the people of the earth with a lot of oppression. It had more power over the world than all the other feathers that came before. 

After this, I saw that the great middle head was suddenly gone, similar to the feathers.

There were two heads remaining. The remaining two heads similarly ruled over the people of the earth, but then the head on the right side devoured the head on the left side. 

Then I heard a voice telling me to look and contemplate what I was about to see. 

I saw a roaring lion chased out of the wood. He spoke with a man’s voice to the eagle. He said, listen, God told me to tell you, Aren’t you what remains of the four beasts I made to reign in the world that the end of their times might come through them? And the fourth beast came and overcame the other beasts and had power over the world with great fearfulness, and had power over the whole earth with a lot of wicked oppression, and dwelt on the earth for a long time with deceit.

You haven’t judged the earth with truth. You have afflicted the meek. You have hurt the peaceable. You’ve loved liars, destroyed the dwellings of those that brought forth fruit, and cast down the walls of those that didn’t do you any harm. Therefore, your wrongful dealings came up before the Highest, and your pride unto the Mighty. The highest looked upon your proud times and ended them, and the abominations are fulfilled. 

Therefore, eagle, appear no more, nor your horrible wings, nor your wicked feathers or malicious heads, nor you hurtful claws, nor all of your vain body, so that all of the earth may be refreshed and return, being delivered from your violence, so she may hope for the judgment and mercy of him that made her.

And while the lion spoke these words to the eagle I saw the remaining head and the four contrary feathers end. The two contrary feathers remaining set themselves up to reign, and their kingdom was small with fill of uproar. And I saw them end, and the entire eagle was burned bringing great fear on the earth.

Then I woke up out of my mind’s troubling trance which brought great fear, and I said to my spirit, I have sought to know the ways of the Highest, and now I’m weary in mind and weak in spirit. I have little strength left in me, because of the great fear I felt this night. I will now fervently ask the highest to comfort me unto the end.

I said, Lord who rules, if I’ve found your grace and am justified before you before many others, and if you’ve heard my prayer, comfort me and show me, your servant, the interpretation and plain difference of this fearful vision. In so doing you may perfectly comfort my soul. You have judged me worthy to show me the last days. 

He said, this is the interpretation. The eagle you saw coming up from the sea is the kingdom your brother Daniel saw in vision.

It wasn’t expounded to him, however; therefore, I will now expound it to you.

The days will come when a kingdom will arise on the earth that will be feared above all kingdoms that came before it. Twelve kings will reign in this kingdom, one after the other. In this kingdom, the second king will have more time than any of the other eleven. That’s what the twelve feathers you saw signifies. 

The voice you heard speak that didn’t come from the heads but came from the midst of the body means that after the time of that kingdom there will arise great strivings. It will stand in peril of failing; but, it will not fall then but will be restored again to its beginning.

The eight contrary feathers you saws means that eight kings will arise whose times will be small and years swift. Two of them will perish, the middle time approaching. Four will be kept until the end begins to approach. Two will be kept until the very end. 

The three resting heads you saw means that in the last days the most High will raise up three kings and renew many things in their kingdoms, and they will have dominion of the earth. They will rule with a lot of oppression, above all those before them; therefore, they are called the heads of the eagle. They shall accomplish his wickedness and finish his last end.

You saw the great head appear no more. It means one king will die upon his bed and with pain, and the two remaining will be slain with the sword. The sword of one will devour the other, but the last will fall through the sword himself at his end.

The two contrary feathers you saw going under the head on the right side are those the Highest has kept for the very end. It is the small kingdom full of trouble, which you saw.

The lion you saw rising up out of the wood, and roaring, and speaking to the eagle, and rebuking her for her unrighteousness, is the anointed. The Highest has kept him for them and their wickedness unto the end. He will reprove them and upbraid them for their cruelty. He will judge them, rebuke them, and correct them; but, he will deliver the rest of my people with mercy –– those who have been pressed upon my border. He will make them joyful until the coming of the day of judgment that I told you about from the beginning.

That’s the interpretation of what you saw, and only you have been meet to know this secret of the Highest; therefore, write all these things down and hide them. Teach them to the wise of the people, whose hearts you know will comprehend and will keep these secrets.

Why Ezra’s Eagle Is About America

• The prophecy itself says that it is about the last days; therefore, we know it is a prophecy that has fulfillment in our relative time.
• To get a sense of who this prophecy refers to, we have to take the sequence of events and attempt to match them with a “kingdom” in our time. If you start counting from the point of Herbert Hoover, the prophecy makes sense and matches perfectly. The feather after Hoover, Roosevelt, was elected to 4 terms, which is twice as many as anyone and consistent with the prophecy. John F. Kennedy was assassinated and Nixon resigned near the middle time of the feathers on the one side, identifying the 2 short feathers on that side. Trump became a short feather by being ousted due to election fraud, staying true to the prophecy and identifying the first short feather on the opposite side of the eagle. The odds of this happening are beyond coincidence. It seems clear that this must be about America, that an “Eagle Kingdom” was set up in Hoover’s day and remains on earth, soon to be destroyed. It isn’t just that things are similar, it’s that the very sequence of events is aligned perfectly with the prophecy. I’m aware of no other nation or kingdom with similar alignment; therefore, I’m aware of no other nation or kingdom that fulfills the prophecy. These are the last days; the USA is the dominant nation on Earth; the prophecy matches the USA; therefore, the prophecy is about the USA.

A common criticism of this idea is that there are presidents who don’t seem to align with the prophecy. Some may have died before a term was finished, for example. Wouldn’t they be short feathers? It doesn’t seem to be that someone ended their rule prematurely, but it seems to be why. That brings me to secret combinations, which is an idea explored deeply in the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. From the earliest days of man, beginning with Cain, there was formed among them a secret combination that “glories” in secret abominations and does secret works of evil to get gain. It appears that a secret combination formed in the days preceding or of Herbert Hoover. JFK didn’t just die, he was assassinated. Nixon didn’t die but resigned because of turmoil likely caused by secret combinations. Trump didn’t die but was defeated because of voter fraud. On the other hand, Roosevelt did die before finishing his final term, but his death seems to be from natural causes. So, when trying to understand this prophecy, remember these notes about secret combinations and the reason for the early departure from the amount of time one would have served as POTUS.

Another criticism is that 2 Esdras is apocryphal and was taken out of the Bible, so people think that it is no longer relevant or no longer true. Note what a prophetic leader said he learned from God concerning this point: “There are many things contained therein that are true, and it is mostly translated correctly; there are many things contained therein that are not true, which are interpolations by the hands of men. Therefore, whoso readeth it, let him understand, for the Spirit manifesteth truth; and whoso is enlightened by the Spirit shall obtain benefit therefrom; and whoso receiveth not by the Spirit, cannot be benefited” (J. Smith). So, it has a lot of truth. We just need the Spirit to understand; and if we don’t receive the Spirit, the apocrypha won’t benefit us.

Why Joe Biden Won’t Finish His First Term

Because the prophecy has a perfect track record of fulfillment since the Eagle Kingdom began with Herbert Hoover, it stands to reason that it will continue having a perfect track record with Joe Biden, unless something was lost in translation over time. The prophecy states that the short feather corresponding to Joe Biden will have less time than the one before him, which was Donald Trump. That means that Joe Biden will not finish his current term.

What Ezra’s Eagle Means For the Future

We can expect the following things to occur in the future, based on the prophecy.

• Joe Biden will not finish his first term, presumably in one of the following ways: impeachment and removal from office, resignation, or assassination.
• Two people after Joe Biden will be set up to become President, but they will be eaten by an eagle head, whatever that means.
• The three eagle heads (we don’t yet know exactly what they are, but I have guessed at them being the air, land, and water departments of military, or three past presidents) rule with great oppression and end one after another in some kind of tragedy.
• Two Presidents rule at the very end of the kingdom during a troublous time.
• The eagle is destroyed.

Given the track record of this prophecy, we can expect these things to happen and ought to be prepared for them.

Drunkards of Ephraim with High Crown of Pride

In a small part of one of Yeshua’s brief messages, we learn about where He wants our focus when he said, “Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.”

Yet, here in the midst of a pandemic and worldwide economic collapse, we want “normal” back. Why do we want normal back? Normal is Babylon, or the ways of a confusing, wicked world. Yeshua didn’t come to make us comfortable with our normal. He came to change our hearts, change our thinking, change our paradigms, and to atone. He came to help us be as Heaven is and to do as is done in Heaven.

As He taught, Heaven is coming and Babylon will not survive the transition. This is so that the way it is in Heaven it may also be on Earth.

Are we okay with that? For real. Are you okay with that? Do you know what it entails? Because not feeling okay with losing Babylon is a problem and tells of a troubling warning for one’s future.

Nations are going through their undoing. They’ll have more severe civil turmoil, the conspiracy of a secret combination, political assassinations, a great deception that will test the discernment in all of us, calamities that bring great fear and destruction, and nuclear war.

God’s judgment is being primed, and we’re going to feel its full weight if we don’t quickly repent.

Please read Isaiah and the other prophets, and get closer to God. Stand in Holy places. Leave worldliness behind. Let it go. Love the Lord. Trust Him.

Yeshua knows what we’re going through. Remember Him and His goodness and kindness. While He doesn’t support sin, He does support sincere efforts to repent and to rightly change.

Zion is the pure in heart. It’s the sanctified.

After their transgression, Lucifer told Adam and Eve to hide when God came. One intention of Lucifer’s must have been to damage trust, not only God’s trust in Adam and Eve but also to set a precedent for all mankind of hiding the truth so trust could be destroyed in general, giving Lucifer room to destroy Eternal relationships.

I think we infer a false idea that God is just smiles all the time regardless of what’s going on in our lives and with our commitments.

God suffers. He suffers because His covenant people are unfaithful, and unfaithfulness makes God jealous.

As God said in Exodus 34, “Thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.”

If God wants us to have His character, what does He want us to learn about Him and us by telling us of His jealousy?

Because He wants us to become like Him, I believe that among other things, He’s teaching us something about faithfulness in the Exaltation of Eternal marriage.

God derives happiness from marriage and from His posterity. He knows that Eternally speaking, our approach to sex and marriage can bring true happiness or misery. He wants us to be happy, hence the emphasis on faithfulness. We cannot be happy without it.

He wants us to learn faithfulness to Eternal law and Eternal principle so we can be trusted with the great power that the Exaltation of Eternal Marriage will include.

God knows the pain of betrayal, having experienced it personally.

We simply cannot become like Him, having the power He has, until we’ve become faithful without deviation. We must not betray the Lord our God.

I have felt my God suffer with me. And I have suffered with Him. He is alive and still feels the pain of our unfaithfulness.

Consider Enoch’s experience with God, “God … looked upon the residue of the people, and he wept; and Enoch bore record of it, saying: How is it that the heavens weep, and shed forth their tears as the rain upon the mountains? … How is it that thou, God, canst weep, seeing thou art holy, and from all eternity to all eternity? And were it possible that man could number the particles of the earth, yea, millions of earths like this, it would not be a beginning to the number of thy creations; and thy curtains are stretched out still; and yet thou art there, and thy bosom is there; and also thou art just; thou art merciful and kind forever; and thou hast taken Zion to thine own bosom, from all thy creations, from all eternity to all eternity; and naught but PEACE, JUSTICE, and TRUTH is the habitation of thy throne; and MERCY shall go before thy face and have no end; how is it thou canst weep? The Lord said unto Enoch: Behold these thy brethren; they are the workmanship of mine own hands, and I gave unto them their knowledge, in the day I created them; and in the Garden of Eden, gave I unto man his agency; and unto thy brethren have I said, and also given commandment, that they should love one another, and that they should choose me, their Father; but behold, they are without affection, and they hate their own blood; And the fire of mine indignation is kindled against them…
… among all the workmanship of mine hands there has not been so great wickedness as among thy brethren. … misery shall be their doom … wherefore should not the heavens weep, seeing these shall suffer?”

God doesn’t want us to fail. He wants us to succeed in righteousness.

It brings Him joy when we are peaceable, just, honest, true, merciful, and faithful.

A warning.

Pink for perversion in sex, it’s true
Red for the life that they can’t have with you
Orange is for healing, though healer you fight
Yellow means light, but pride wanders at night
Green is for nature, that which is forsook
Turquoise for magic, counterfeit, crook
Blue harmony, shrill screams in its face
Violet’s the Spirit chased out of this place
When the Baker bakes flags, they’re not telling the truth
Broken is your token, climb out of that noose
Come home to the fixer, the healer, the Friend
Creator of real rainbows from now through the end
Red is for love, the kind that God feels
In doing what’s right, it never rebels
Orange is for strength, of fire, of flame
Ask Him for help, My God is His name
Yellow is light, God’s truth shows the way
And tells you, with righteousness you’ll be okay
Green speaks of freedom from bondage of sin
And shows Godly nature can be yours again
Blue is the blue sky of life-giving air
Breath it in deeply, release troubling care
Sincere indigo with integrity true
Align with God’s law and you’ll be true too
Purple is faithful patience and trust
See God, take His hand, arise from the dust
Your rainbow maligns and deceives, it’s misused
You’re broken, I’m broken, we’ve all been abused
God’s rainbow shows mercy, a covenant of life
There’s no Exaltation except husband and wife
Your future is bright if the truth you’ll embrace
Stop fighting your God, don’t spit in His face
One day He will heal you, all things be made right
Come champion His rainbow, come walk in His light

New views compete with old ones
New headlines oust old news
New memories push the old out
Remember, or you’ll lose
Your grasp on what God taught you
The lessons left behind
Search well, and don’t you worry
Those memories you can find
So, bring back the old learning
And cure its lonesome blues
There’s wisdom to be found, friend
It’s there in the old news

For a long time, the family of God has been struggling with their approach to discerning truth in competing pieces of information.

When God speaks, do we listen and follow? When those who do not love God speak, nor do they love to keep His laws and observe His principles, do we listen and follow? Are we easily provoked to covet and to feel anger? Have we been deceived? Are we making agreements with the adversary that place the welfare of our Eternal souls in jeopardy?

In scripture, fear is used to express a filial passion, the kind of passion for a parent a son or daughter might feel.

As God taught, “and it shall come to pass that he that feareth me shall be looking forth for the great day of the Lord to come, even for the signs of the coming of the Son of Man.” This should be accomplished with the kind of fear defined above.

In contrast with false labors, the time immediately preceding the return of Yeshua in Glory includes the following true-labor indicators, as an analogy.

1. Contractions, or signs, have become regular and relatively predictable, because of prophecy.
2. The labor will progress through all the signs.
3. Since both false labor and real labor produce contractions, discerning real labor isn’t a question of, “are we feeling anything,” as much as, “what exactly does it feel like?”
4. No matter what the world does, even if they feign repentance or some actually start to repent, which some will, the labor will progress through all the way to delivery.
5. Trying to delay or prevent the delivery will NOT stop it, but it may hasten it.
6. There will be evidence of bloody show, or persecuted saints and the casting out and killing of prophets.
7. The membranes will have ruptured, making everyone’s environment feel much different and uncomfortable, leading to physical displacement.

Covenant members of Yeshua’s church will be directly involved in the events that take place, for better or worse depending on the readiness of individuals and families and on whether they keep their covenants.

We keep talking about last-day events in future tense, but they won’t always be future. At some point they are present and then past. They come suddenly, unexpectedly for most people.

Why unexpectedly?

Two reasons come to mind.

1. Because of tribulations that occur before the GREAT tribulation period begins, people have grown used to chaos and become prone to dismiss each new calamity as just as “normal” as any other and nothing extraordinary.
2. Because people are distracted by the pleasures of worldliness, they don’t feel the pain that the righteous are feeling. Not feeling Godly sorrow for the sins of the world is dangerous. The righteous are crying out day and night already for deliverance. They need deliverance. They feel the pain. They are hurting. Yeshua is hurting. A wicked world gives Him enormous pain — pain for all the relationships that are damaged, all the jealousies felt, all the betrayals that cause suffering, and abuses that bring fear. He is there feeling it all. Those who have taken upon them His name feel it, too. But the distraction and evil of worldliness removes the pain from us so we aren’t able to notice it. Yes, Yeshua’s love overcame and overcomes, but for us the mortal world is still a present reality. We’re living some of the pains and sorrows He suffered to overcome.

God’s people want Zion. Sometimes they want it without actually becoming Zion. They think they can just waltz in and make it home without being sanctified first. How can we have Zion without being Zion?

For this to make sense, you have to first account for assumptions going into this article. The main assumption that will bring cognitive dissonance to different categories of readers who aren’t members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the fact that members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints consider themselves part of the covenants pertaining to Israel, and that the prophecies pertaining to the last days also apply to them and to The United States of America as well as to the Jews and the state of Israel. Members of the church will have to remember that this prophecy has at least dual fulfillment, with the Lord Yeshua Himself declaring a latter-day fulfillment. Note that if a people are Israel, they receive prophetic fulfillments pertaining to Israel, positive and negative. They can’t have it any which way they want it, with all the positives applying to them and any negatives applying only to past Israel or to some other present-day people. Another point is that it isn’t necessarily required that the abomination of desolation happen exactly like the first time. I like to say that dual-fulfillment prophecies don’t match exactly, they rhyme. There are particulars that match, but there are particulars that do not. That is another assumption you need going into this article.

DANIEL 12
Daniel 12:11-12: “And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.”

The “daily sacrifice” pertains to the ordinances of the temple. In the old temple, there was an animal sacrifice. In the temples of the church, covenants of sacrifice are made.

Every Church of Jesus Christ temple closed on 3/25/2020 (daily Sacrifice taken away). 3/25/2020 was also the last day of the year on the biblical Hebrew calendar. That’s the beginning of the count. 1290 days later is 10/6/2023, the last day of Feast of Tabernacles. Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) is one of the three biblically mandated pilgrimage festivals on which Jews were commanded to make a pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem. 1335 days after 3/25/2020 is 11/20/2023. And then the next eclipse is on Monday, April 8, 2024.

Fulfillment type and shadow or real thing?

1290 days were fulfilled on Oct 6, 2023. On Oct 6, 2023, at 10:30 pm Mountain Time (6:30 am Israel time Oct 7) Hamas invaded the Holy Land in Israel in an unprecedented attack, with Israel’s Prime Minister declaring the nation to be at war.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens after the 1335 days are fulfilled.

1335 Days Fulfilled – November 20-21, 2023 – Blessed is he who waiteth

The full 1335 days were fulfilled on November 20th (21st Israel time). The day after a news release was given that Hamas and Israel would undergo periodic truces/ceasefires to release hostages. Blessed is he who waiteth indeed!

Is this THE fulfillment of the abomination of desolation, or is it just a really, really good type and shadow? I’ll leave that to you and God, but I personally am treating it as a serious wake-up call and to pay extra-strict attention to Jesus’ words in Matthew 24.

15-28:
So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let the one who is on the housetop not go down to take what is in his house, and let the one who is in the field not turn back to take his cloak. And alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath. For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short. Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand. So, if they say to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.

In other words, if this is THE fulfillment, we stand at the threshold of the great tribulations of the last days. In the days, weeks, and months to come, we would expect great calamities that dwarf those of the last 7 years. The Lord admonishes the reader of Matthew 24 to flee into the mountains when they see the abomination of desolation fulfilled because great tribulations are on the way. The book of Revelation goes into more detail about what to expect during the tribulation period. It isn’t pretty. But great news is found in the next section of Matthew 24:

29-51:
Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left. Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions. But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants and eats and drinks with drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know and will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

The other day, while reading some news online, I stumbled across the fact that there will be a total solar eclipse in 2017 that will be observable from America, and then I investigated it more and discovered this interesting information. I’m naturally interested in eclipses anyway, but the reason these caught my interest more than usual is because of their paths and their timing. These could be significant. First, let’s take a look in detail at the eclipses in 2017, 2024, 2045, and 2052. Then we will see more about the paths of each of the eclipses that will “touch” America from 2017 until the end of the year 2099.

Interesting Facts About the 2017 and 2024 Total Solar Eclipses

A total solar eclipse has a limited path or zone where you would have to be to see the total phase of the eclipse. These two eclipse paths have a northern limit, a path center, and a southern limit. In the above pictures, this zone is marked by a northern blue line, a red center line, and a southern blue line. The green and purple marker pins have to do with the points of greatest eclipse and greatest duration, which I won’t discuss here.

Facts about total solar eclipses in America:
The last total solar eclipse that touched the United States was 37 years ago on February 26, 1979. Its path went across only a few states in the northwest.The last total solar eclipse to path across the entire mainland of the United States was on June 8, 1918. It went from Washington to Florida.

Facts about these events:
The August 21, 2017 event will go across the entire mainland from Oregon to South Carolina.
The August 21, 2017 event will cast a “shadow” over the entire country.
The northern limit of the August 21, 2017 eclipse includes Adam-ondi-Ahman, Haun’s Mill,  and Far West.
The southern limit of the August 21, 2017 eclipse includes Liberty Jail and Independence.
The center line of the August 21, 2017 eclipse lands about half way between Adam-ondi-Ahman and Independence.

The August 21, 2017 eclipse center line goes over Makanda, Illinois.

The April 8, 2024 eclipse center line also goes over Makanda (just northwest of it, less than 4 miles away).

Makanda (also near Pamona) is essentially where “X marks the spot” for the two eclipses. (They “X” at Cedar Lake.) The “X” is located in the Shawnee National Forest.

The April 8, 2024 eclipse goes over Kirtland, Palmyra, and the Hill Cumorah (Palmyra is right near Cumorah). This map also has Cedar Lake (bottom left marker pin) for reference. (This eclipse also goes over Hiram, Thompson, Orange, and Amherst, OH and Manchester, Fayette, and Perrysburg, NY. In addition to other locations mentioned in this article, each of these locations is significant to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.)

The April 8, 2024 eclipse will cast a “shadow” over the entire mainland United States.
This eclipse will happen in the 7th year after the first event.

Why These Eclipses Catch My Attention

Why Do These Eclipses Catch My Attention? The reason the 2017 and 2024 eclipses interest me has to do with certain events that I believe happened in these areas during Book of Mormon times, certain events that happened in these areas in the early history of the church, and prophecies related to some of these areas relevant to the last days. I won’t list all of those details here. If you know the events and prophecies I refer to and have added insight, please leave me a note. It also interests me because of my belief that the Nephites and perhaps some or many of the Lamanites of the Book of Mormon lived in the heartland of America, including in these very locations. The “X” is right over an area that I believe to be of great significance, reminding me (when you consider the 7 year timetable) of the 7 year “standoff” between Lachoneus and Gidgiddoni and the gadianton robbers. (Remember that Giddianhi invited Lachoneus to make an “agreement with hell” at that time, see 3 Nephi 3.) That, plus the prophesied events to transpire in the near future, plus the location of these eclipses, plus the 7-year timeline, all connect to make me believe that this cannot be a coincidence. I do not believe it is a coincidence. I do believe God is giving us something to think about, but you will have to do your own work in study, faith, obedience, and service to know what the Lord wants you to know. Don’t take it from me. Please get your own answers!

What I am not saying:
I’m not saying I think Jesus Christ’s second coming to all the world will happen on the day of these eclipses. I don’t know the day or hour.
I’m not saying I think that these eclipses are the sign of the coming of the Son of Man.
I’m not saying that I think anything will happen on the exact day or at the exact time of the eclipses that will suddenly jolt all of America. I’m not ruling out that something could happen, but my purpose is not to come on here and make some specific prediction about something happening on August 21st or on the day of one of the other eclipses.

What I am saying:
I am saying that I believe these eclipses (and the eclipses in 2044/2045 and 2052) could be relevant to and indicative of tribulation(✔︎).
I am saying that I believe that if these eclipses do mark a point in time of fulfillment of prophecy, then the things that will happen will come about in the days, weeks, months, and years surrounding the eclipses(✔︎). Significant things may or may not happen on the exact day of the eclipses.
The kinds of events that come to mind for me include both wonderfully welcome and tragic happenings, like famine(✔︎), pestilence(✔︎), disease(✔︎), terrorism(✔︎), civil unrest (political, cultural, etc.)(✔︎), wars(✔︎), earthquake(✔︎), tsunami, weather events(✔︎), economic hardship(✔︎), miracles, long-anticipated fulfillment of prophecy, etc.

Other Thoughts Related to the Areas of the 2017 and 2024 Eclipses

This is what I feel is an astonishing discovery about the 2017/2024 and 2045/2052 eclipses:
Part of my initial sense of wonder about the 2017 and 2024 eclipses is that the 2024 eclipse happens in the 7th year after the 2017 eclipse. 2422 days sits between the two eclipses. When I saw that there would be an eclipse in 2045 followed in the 7th year by an eclipse in 2052, I wondered how many days would sit between them. Answer? Exactly 2422 days, just like the eclipses in 2017 and 2024! Note that approximately 21 years passes between the 2024 and 2045 eclipses. Also note that approximately 21 years passed between the end of WWI and WWII.

WWI Rhyme
It has been said that history does not repeat itself, but history does rhyme. The fact that the 2017/2024 and 2045/2052 eclipses happen about 100 years after WWI and WWII respectively (give or take a few years), and that there is approximately 21 years between the 2024 and 2045 eclipses and there was approximately 21 years between the end of WWI (1918) and beginning of WWII (1939), has inspired me to look for “rhymes” related to these two eclipses and the two world wars. I have found one potential WWI rhyme so far. WWI started on July 28, 1914. On August 21, 1914 there was a total solar eclipse that traveled over a part of the world impacted heavily by WWI. Here is the path of that eclipse. Our eclipse this year also lands on August 21, and the world is already in chaos with many whisperings of a world war on the horizon and with some claiming we are in a world war now but that the war is not being advertised as such.

Salem, USA and Jerusalem, Israel
The moon will begin to cover the sun in Salem, OR around 9:05 AM. During the eclipse in Salem, the sun will set in Jerusalem. It is interesting to note that Salem means Peace, and Jerusalem means City of Peace. While the moon is casting a shadow over Peace in America, the light of the sun will be hidden from the City of Peace in Israel. Other cities/towns named Salem the August 21, 2017 eclipse’s path of totality will go over include the following:

New Madrid Fault
I learned about this earthquake zone during my natural disaster studies (later graduating in Emergency Management). The New Madrid fault is known to produce extremely large and damaging earthquakes. But earthquakes along the New Madrid that are similar in magnitude to those produced by the well-known faults of California can be more damaging than those in California, because the earth in the heartland amplifies the waves due to its unique make up. It just so happens that both the 2017 and the 2024 eclipses go straight through this fault zone. The town of Makanda sits atop the major center of the fault zone like a hat or a crown. Here’s a map to show what I mean (note that I put the black lines on the image to indicate the paths of the eclipses):

Thank you Merlin who, in his comment, informed me about an eclipse that happened in 1811 and an earthquake in that same year along the New Madrid. In recorded history, the most powerful earthquake to shake the USA east of the Rockies happened on December 16, 1811, and it happened on the New Madrid. Estimates put the powerful quake at around magnitude 7.5-7.9, but I’ve read the fault can produce earthquakes in the 8s. That year, in September, there was an annular solar eclipse that pathed a few hundred miles northeast of the edge of the fault zone. The edge of the path of totality closest to the fault zone went through Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. The edge of the fault zone closest to the path of totality is in the southern Illionois area. The path of totality of the 2017 eclipse will be much closer to the fault zone than the 1811 eclipse. In fact, if I’m interpreting my research correctly, the path of totality will go directly over the northeastern edge of the fault zone.

Juan de Fuca Plate
The 2017 eclipse also paths directly over the Juan de Fuca plate, which plate is off the coast of Northern California, Oregon, Washington State, and Vancouver Island in Canada. The Juan de Fuca is capable of earthquakes of magnitude 9.0 or larger, which are capable of producing massive tsunami.

Trail of Tears
The August 21, 2017 event paths directly over about half of the northern land route of the Trail of Tears, which is a path the Cherokee Nation took when they were forced out of their tribal lands. Thousands of Cherokee perished. This trail happens to go directly through the Shawnee National Forest, only 10-20 miles south of where the two eclipses cross paths. I love the Native American people of the heartland and surrounding areas. I pray for them and believe with all my heart that their best days are ahead.

Civil War
The August 21, 2017 event paths over Fort Sumter in South Carolina. The official beginning of the war was on April 12, 1861 when the Confederate forces bombarded the Union-controlled Fort Sumter in Charleston Bay.

Exclusively the USA
According to greatamericaneclipse.com, the August 21, 2017 event is the first time a total solar eclipse will have visited the USA and no other nation since 1776, the year America was founded. (Note that I have not yet verified this claim. If someone has evidence of this, please send it along to me in the comment section below.) Update: According to National Eclipse (in an article called Debunking the National Eclipse) there was no USA eclipse in 1776. The way the statement that “the August 21, 2017 event is the first time a total solar eclipse will have visited the USA and no other nation since 1776” is written can therefore be misleading, depending on how you interpret it. A correct statement, again according to National Eclipse (a .wordpress.com site), is that there has not been an eclipse that exclusively visited the land that now makes up the United States since the year 1257, meaning America has never had this happen before as long as we’ve been America. Update again: An article on Newsweek by Hannah Osborne published on 7/7/17 said, and I quote, “Why is the August 21 solar eclipse special? . . .  It is the first total solar eclipse ever that goes over only U.S. land and no other country.” So, I’m not sure what to believe on this point. As far as I can tell, the 1257 eclipse in this link only touches land that is now part of this country. Maybe I’m looking at it wrong. Is this really the first time it’s ever happened over the land that makes up the USA, or is it the first since 1257? I’m thinking 1257…

Extermination Order
The August 21, 2017 event paths right over Jefferson City, which is Missouri’s capital. In 1838, Governor Lilburn Boggs issued an executive order authorizing the extermination of all “Mormons” living in the state (this executive order was rescinded in by Governor Kit Bond in 1976, two years shy of 140 years after the order was given). Gen. John B. Clark, the General to whom the executive order was addressed (he was responsible to carry out the order), wrote the following soon after the “Mormons” surrendered: “. . . you must not think of staying here another season, or of putting in crops, for the moment you do this, the citizens will be upon you; and if I am called here again, in a case of a non-compliance of a treaty made, do not think I will do as I have now. You need not expect any mercy, but extermination, for I am determined the governor’s orders be executed.” In so many instances, the outcasts were robbed of their dignity, their virtue, their lives, their liberty, and their pursuit of happiness. They were denied their freedom to peaceably practice their religion, their freedom to peaceably assemble, their freedom of speech, their freedom of press, and their petitions for redress of grievances went largely ignored. Other basic God-given freedoms were violated. Even with this heartbreaking history, Missouri is a place of hope for members of the church. Some of the most significant events in all of human history occurred there and will yet occur there.

DANIEL 12 AND 9
Daniel 12:11-12: “And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.”
All Church of Jesus Christ temples closed on 3/25/2020 (daily Sacrifice taken away?). 3/25/2020 was also the last day of the year on the biblical Hebrew calendar. 1290 days later is 10/6/2023, the last day of Feast of Tabernacles. Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) is one of the three biblically mandated pilgrimage festivals on which Jews were commanded to make a pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem.1335 days after 3/25/2020 is 11/20/2023.

MORE NOTES ABOUT THE DANIEL 9 AND 12 CONNECTION:
Daniel 9 and 12 speaks of 70 weeks, the daily sacrifice being taken away, abomination of desolation set up, etc. I believe that Daniel 9 may be a type and shadow of the events of Daniel 12. The tie-in is in verses 11-12 in chapter 12.

I’m thinking of it being like Isaiah, how there are dual fulfillments, with Daniel 9 being fulfilled multiple times, but in ways that “rhyme” instead of exact, similar to how “Egypt” of Isaiah may refer to Egypt of old but also to the USA of the present time. In such instances, you can find “parallels” but not an exact match throughout the prophecy.

A parallel is coming strongly into my heart and mind. It first came to me when the church closed the temples in March, 2020. Follow this thinking.

Here’s the scripture from Daniel 9:
“Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the wrongdoing, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for guilt, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy Place. So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be 69 weeks; it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress. Then after the 62 weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined. And he will make a firm covenant with the many for 1 week [7 days], but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate.”

Here is my “rhyme parallel” rewrite:
Seventy years have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the wrongdoing, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for guilt, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy Place. So you are to know and discern that from the time Israel again becomes a state in 1948 and Israel’s Jews again become a recognized people in their land (which comes in a time of distress) until the latter-day servant of God begins his ministry to usher in the millennial reign, there will be 69 years (which is when the eclipse happened). 62 years after 1948, God’s servant will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the wicked prince who is to come will defile the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined. And he will make a firm covenant with the many for 7 years, but in the middle of the 7 years he will put a stop to temple service and regular worship; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate.”

This prophecy fits in perfectly with Isaiah, Revelations, and Ezra’s Eagle’s timing and with what he says happens to the next leaders of the Eagle kingdom.

I’m not going to comment on the 62-years thing, but 69 years after 1948, in 2017, came three well-known and oft-discussed signs in the heavens. God uses the sun, moon, and stars for signs. August 21, 2017 was the Total Solar Eclipse sign. September 23, 2017 was the sign in the stars. October 19, 2017 was the first time an interstellar object had been discovered (with the second happening two years later). Will we get a third interstellar discovery before 2024?

A second Total Solar Eclipse happens in April, 2024, the 7th year after the other eclipse, bookending the 7 years.

Talking specifically about our time, here’s what Daniel 12 says:
“These words will be kept secret and sealed up until the end time. Many will be purged, cleansed, and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand. And from the time that the regular sacrifice is taken away and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. Blessed is the one who is patient and attains to the 1,335 days!”

Okay, so what happened in the middle of the week (7 years…see the parallel from Daniel 9)? On March 12, 2020 the church suspended all public gatherings worldwide, which included Sunday meetings and mid-week meetings. On March 18, 2020 a 5.7 earthquake struck Salt Lake City that caused the Salt Lake City’s temple statue to drop its trumpet, making it look like he was looking at a wristwatch. Then, 7 days later on March 25, 2020, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints closed all temples in the world specifically stating the motive was a desire to be responsible “global citizens”. Many other churches around the world closed at the same time.

Family, friends, I do not believe this is a coincidence.

As written previously, 1290 days after March 25, 2020 is Friday, October 6, 2023, which is the last day of Feast of Tabernacles. 1335 days after March 25, 2020 is Monday, November 20, 2023. And then the next eclipse is on Monday, April 8, 2024.

The Chile/Argentina Eclipses at Halfway Points
A total solar eclipse pathed over Chile and Argentina on December 14, 2020, exactly (to the day) the midpoint between the 2017 and 2024 eclipses.

Days between 2017 and 2024  total solar eclipses: 2422.
December 14, 2020 total solar eclipse lands exactly to the day the midpoint between the two.
Days between 2045 and 2052 total solar eclipses that X over the USA: 2422.
December 5, 2048 total solar eclipse lands exactly to the day the midpoint between the two.
The 2020 and 2048 midpoint eclipses both path over Chile and Argentina in South America.

When I was researching the eclipses, I knew by the power of the Holy Ghost they were significant. I felt compelled by the church’s culture to equivocate my findings and beliefs, and I feel ashamed of doing so. Nevertheless, I did state my firm belief that they were significant. Since August 2017, firsts and worsts have escalated intensely, accelerating even faster when 2020 came around. I haven’t written down all of the enormous events that have happened since 2017. I’ve only covered a fraction in this post. 

This isn’t the time to try. It’s the time to convert “trying” into “doing.” We have to stop being triers and start being doers of the word and not hearers only. If we will not, we will not be prepared.

September 23, 2017 – “Revelation 12 Sign”
Several people have mentioned or asked about the “Revelation 12 sign” taking place on September 23, 2017. Yes, I am aware of it but didn’t write about it, because others had already done so in detail. I might pick up the topic at some point if I find anything that hasn’t been considered.

22 Years – The Family: A Proclamation to the World
On September 23, 1995, President Gordon B. Hinckley read The Family: A Proclamation to the World from the pulpit at the General Relief Society Meeting of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Exactly 22 years later (8036 days), on September 23, 2017, there will be a General Women’s Session of the General Conference of the church. This is the same day as the so-called “Revelation 12 Sign.” (The total solar eclipse on August 21st was 8003 days after the September 23, 1995 meeting.) Note that in the proclamation read in 1995, the following warning was given: “. . . we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets.” Since that day, the devil has waged an all-out war on the family, and many people (including in the USA) have fallen victim to his deceit. I personally feel that the calamities we currently face are a taste of what is coming if we don’t repent. We need to protect the family unit as God designed it. Revelation 12 is interpreted (as it relates to the last days) as the Church of Jesus Christ giving birth to the Kingdom of God, with the devil standing ready to try to devour it soon after its arrival. I’ve written about chiasmus before, and I personally believe we’ve got another instance of it here. Revelation 12 has several “rhymes” from Jesus until today. One rhyme happened when Mary gave birth to Jesus and they fled to Egypt for safety. Another rhyme was after Jesus was crucified and the church tried to live the law of consecration but was soon destroyed by persecution and apostasy. Another rhyme seems to have happened, in a way, in the early days of this church. A final fulfillment will happen between now and the return of our King, Jesus Christ.
